It has been a chilly couple of weeks. Started with a storm that dumped 2' on us. Went out and snow blew path ways for the dogs and the lane way/parking area. Then we had snow flurries almost every day, so every couple of days got the snow blower out.

Four days ago we had another Blizzard with high winds that lasted three days. Big snow drifts(three to four feet) and cold temps. Yesterday finally finished snow blowing. Did the dogs path but did not put the cross paths in due to three to four foot drifts. Looks so nice out there with all the clean white snow, sun shining, blah, blah. BUT it is -32C or 25.6F with a wind chill of -40C or -40F. Our vehicles are all plugged in.

The snow is almost level with the 4' chain link fence. Good thing the dogs can't climb the drifts or they would be gone out of the yard. They saw the sun shine and thought it was warm out, HA. Mrsdinty just brought the Chihuahua's in, although she had them dressed in their winter sweaters and their parkas they only stayed out about a minute. Now she is taking the coats off and pulling sweaters over their heads. Think they will use the litter pan and puppy pads for the rest of the day?

Have to head into work in two hours. You would not believe the idiots who drive like crazy in this weather. Snow and ice and still they speed. Just the other day(3am), a 35yr old male was out at the bar, had to much to drink and decided to take a taxi home. While stopped at a red light the taxi was rear ended by an 18yr old . The 30yr old in the back seat was killed, the taxi driver in serious condition and the drunk 18yr old not a scratch.
Hey don't drink and drive!

There were three or four or so white gophers last year at Toleman's Bridge last year but according to the Fish and Wildlife Officers they did not last due to their color. Lot of the brown ones are still there of course.

Oh so many smart seniors here on SFF and those of us who are not quite as apt at one thing or another are lucky to have these smart folks around. I am sure many of you will tell me how to correct my photo error.

I wanted to see if I could post a photo to my blog. I followed the directions at the bottom but the photo ended up where the profile photo goes. Do you have to put the [image] in the center of the blog text and the photo will end up where [image] is? If so, why did it not end up in the text area? (Picture of me banging my head against a wall here).

Thanks gang.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge quote

A quote of Samuel Taylor Coleridge came to mind yesterday. Mrsdinty and I were out on another window shopping spree again, we seem to do that a lot now that she is retired.

Any how, we went into pet smart to look for a new coat for Chloe our little chihuahua. We have also been thinking of getting a kitten to torment her with. We went over to the adopt a cat area and saw a huge cat there. It(now neutered) was cleaning it's back leg. This leg was bigger than Chloe. I mean, the cat was huge. Any way, we talked and hummed and hawed over the idea and were on the edge of adopting this big ox, when the clerk came over with a young couple in tow. They looked like a couple who would enjoy having a kitten around. Instead, the clerk put a blue ADOPTED sign on the old cats cage. The couple looked happy, the clerk looked happy, and I know mrsdinty and I were sure happy. This big ox of a cat got it's furever home. We congratulated the couple and wandered off.

At that moment, Samuel Taylor Coleridge's saying came to my mind, "He prayeth best who loveth best All things both great and small"

I hope the young couple have a long happy life togeather

Now mrsdinty and I have to decide on a rescue chihuahua or a rescue kitten.

Have a good day ya-all.

Who? Parent, guardian or village?

By definition a parent is a mother or father who begets or brings forth offsprings. It is also one who brings up and cares for another. A guardian is one who has the care of the person or property of another, such as a . A village is a settlement of people.

A day off yesterday, so the Mrs and I went into the city to wander around and window shop. I watched getting into all kinds of things, wanting this, wanting that, making a fuss when told no, etc, and mothers just walking away doing their own thing well the whined and wandered around. Christmas shopping season you know, the toys and glitter are out.

Lunch was much the same. We went to Mario's for a quite meal for the two of us. Two tables over sat a man, woman and a of three maybe four. They were eating, the little girl made a minor fuss, the mother said something and the went back to eating and looking happy. One table over were three ladies and two . The were up, down, here and there while the ladies sat talking and having lunch, letting the do as thy pleased. Much to the discomfort of the people near by. Catercorner(catty-corner) was an older couple with a little girl sitting in a raise-em up seat. She was active and noisy, dropping things from the table, like silverware, crayons, etc. They ignored her while others close by or the server would pick up and put the things back on the table.

No problem to me, I like , if they get to much out of hand, I just ask the people to look after them. Most of the time with good results and other times with a "screw you" attitude.

Point is, to-days parent thinks others should look after their while the parents ignore the . They have the attitude of "it takes a village to raise a " where I think it is the duty of the parent or guardian.

I also think that if "it takes a village to raise a " then pretty soon you have nothing but a bunch of "village idiots".

What is your view or take on "it takes a village to raise a "

First BIG snow storm of the year and my girls(the dogs) who like to use the kitty litter pan during cold weather have decided "No we want to go outside"

Hard time getting the door open because of the 36 inches of snow in front of it. Shovel off the steps, dig a path away from the house, then let the dogs out. Oops, can't see them because the snow is higher than the dogs, they just disappeared. 3min total and here they are running up the stairs.

Now I have to go dig out the truck and head out to work. Will have to snow blow a big area for them to run around in when I get home tonight. Leaving for work a little earlier this morning, took 20min longer to get home last night as the roads were bad and could only travel at 60k (37mph) on the highway. Well, gotta go, hope the plowed some of the city streets. Snow to end around 5pm today.

MUSH. Hey think I could hood my Chihuahuas to a sled?
