My best friend's 40 year old was diagnosed with AIDS 10 years ago. Because of serious complications created partially by his own doing, he can't walk as a result of a stroke, and requires care 7/24. he has been hospitalized for the past 10 years in a long-term care facility.
He's been at death's door several times and is there once again. Hospice has been called in three times but he apparently has a strong will to keep going.
My friend is worn out but continues to have hope. However, she knows that if he gets past this current crisis, it's just a matter of time.
Any suggestions from others who have gone through this difficult time would be appreciated.

What a great place to recommend. The Canadians are such gracious and welcoming people, always ready to take time to give directions or make helpful suggestions. I particularly liked the French- speaking and didn't encounter anyone who wouldn't speak to us in English. I guess the French from France are a little standoffish.
We stayed one night outside of Toronto and traveled the next day to Ottawa, which was a wonderful city. On we went to the Land of a Thousand Lakes and finally to Montreal where we stayed for the next 5 days.
Our hotel was the Regency Inn at the Marriott, in the center of town, surrounded by great restaurants and shopping. The Regency was recently refurbished and everything was freshly painted and equipped with all new furnishings. They really go out of the way to please, providing a buffet breakfast each morning, a paper outside your door, a 2-hour snack time in the afternoon, a buffet dinner once a week and finally, homemade cookies twice a day! Bliss!
We hiked three miles to Old Montreal and were pleased with the old buildings and shops. A three hour city bus tour was also very informative. We even squeezed in a visit to the Montreal Casino.
We took a bus trip to Old Quebec and were met with the same hospitality we received in Montreal. There's so much history surrounding Quebec and Montreal. We learned that the French Canadians were becoming the minority, with Asian immigrants leading the migration.
Through the wonders of computer science, I have been able to trace my French ancestors back to the middle 1600's in Canada and having visited the country, I'm anxious to learn more.
Just wanted to share this wonderful experience, regards, Laurie

On Friday I fly into Toronto for an overnight stay and then drive onto Montreal for 5 days. This is my first trip to this part of Canada. Years back, I went to Victoria for a vacation and fell in love with the country. There will be three of us on this trip, two are originally from Toronto but have lived in the States for most of their lives. I'm particularly interested in visiting Quebec, as my great grandparents were from there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as to places to go, restaurants (I particularly enjoy good French food) to eat and evening entertainment.
Bon Jour

I have been a member of SFF for about 4 years and have met some very nice men. No love matches, however, but lasting friendships.
Recently, I've become an active blog watcher and even initiated my own blog. Of the different forums that SFF provides, I really look forward to the blogs.
There are many interesting "bloggers" who are continuously making worthwhile contributions and keep you coming back for more! To them I say thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

I was reminiscing with a friend the other day and we were discussing the time when several years ago, four of us were at a desperate stage to lose some weight. Wrapping was coming into vogue in California and we all decided that was for us and made appointments.
After taking our measurements, they wrapped us up like mummies in herb-infused (and God knows what else) wet Ace bandages, with just our eyes and mouths exposed, and marched us single file into a small room with a T.V. For the first few minutes, we doubled up laughing at one another in our shrouds, then we were instructed to dance for the next hour to an exercise video. From time to time an attendant came in and anointed us with more herbs. One of my friends has absolutely no rhythm and when three of us were dancing to the left... she'd be going to the right!
We persisted and continued to go for the next three Saturdays. Did we lose weight? Maybe a few inches, collectively, but the memories are priceless!
