Our nephew, who is a police officer, posted a meme the other day that showed a car wreck and made note of how many thousands of people are killed each year by drunk drivers......... but nobody blames the car, they hold the drunk driver responsible. But let it be a shooting, and it is the gun that gets the blame, not the shooter.
Our country has gun laws, but none of the people who kill other people with guns are abiding by those laws. Perhaps changing some of those laws will help appease the "anti gun" people, but they sure won't stop anyone who is intent on killing or hurting others.
In my opinion, it is a societal problem and this is just one of the symptoms.

MrsJoe...insisting that others blame guns is the most disingenuous thing I've ever heard. Absolutely nobody in their right minds does that. People are not "anti gun" as some would have you believe...they actually blame lax gun laws.
" Perhaps changing some of those laws will help appease the "anti gun" people, but they sure won't stop anyone who is intent on killing or hurting others"

No, stricter gun laws may not stop all of those who are intent on killing and harming others. But, if it is made much more difficult for those people to obtain guns...then maybe, just maybe, you'll find that the number of mass shootings might decrease. Why don't you compare (goggle it) America's record with Britain's or other countries in Europe who have stricter gun laws. I am sure you would be shocked.
It is a fact that in America there are more registered guns than there is population.

Here's another fact...I am not anti-gun...but I am anti loose gun laws. Simply because the more people with guns, the more potential for violence.

Also, Why is it acceptable to have good strict laws regarding driving while drunk...but not for guns...cars don't kill people...drivers do! It's exactly the same thing ...an excuse.

I understand and can agree with most of what you say here. But, we do have gun laws, and some of the strictest are locales that have the worst murder rate by gun in the country...... like Chicago.
Perhaps some of the gun legislation needs revised, but in the long run, I cannot see that it will help much at all. We tried that with alcohol prohibition, and people still got alcohol on the black market. Drugs are illegal, but people still get them. Not all the killers who use guns even get them legally.
I just believe that more gun laws are not the only answer. I believe it is mainly a societal problem. When I was growing up, guns were a common item in many homes, but so were parents who cared and taught their children right from wrong. Now, many children are fed a solid diet of violence without consequence, and without the parental guidance so badly needed.
When they are filled with anger and have not been taught to deal with it, or monitored to see that it is getting out of hand, they "explode".
We may need some different "gun" laws, but we need a lot more than that..... and politicians rushing to sound the alarm on gun control so they can try to garner votes by emotions is certainly not what we need.

I was giving bigblock a little instruction in Scottish history, to help get rid of his brainblock, not complaining...if he wants to call me a Queen that's his business.
But calling me Queen of Scots, makes him look a bit stupid. Especially at his age.

I don't give a whit for what anyone calls me...they can't hurt...and I know who and what I am, so who the hell cares. As for you're feeble attempts to put folk down...you only degrade yourself. Nobody else need say a word.

There are a lot of laws pertaining to safer driving......new laws and car design features have been added for the entire history of motor vehicles......perhaps you haven't noticed.

Lulu, that is my point. We have the laws and we still have drunk drivers killing people. We have drug laws, and we still have people using drugs and dying from them. We have gun laws and people are still killing each other, especially in the cities.
Just making new laws is not going to solve this problem. It is going to take a change in societal thinking.... of teaching our youth right from wrong and realizing their actions have consequences..... and of enforcing the laws we have and helping those who need help dealing with problems in life that they cannot handle.
Instead of our country sending billions of dollars to other countries, we need to invest that in our own country. Help parents learn to be parents, and teach them the responsibilities they have as parents..... not take over those responsibilities by the government. For too long, that has been the growing trend and parents have abdicated their responsibilities.

I said, JUST making new laws will not be enough. There is a lot more that needs done. Period.

You post a satirical article that you copied,as an argument......a satire that was written in 2015.....that wasn't original even then, but was gleaned from an article about Bush from years before......Do you actually think that there is anyone here who doesn't know this nonsense already?.....It's a meaningless blurb.....
