HOW MANY LANGUAGES DO YOU SPEAK? How many languages do you speak? Do you get to use most or all of them? I only speak English. I took French in school but that was a long time ago. What about you? Elaine Shuel |

I wanted to take Latin in high school, but they quit offering it a few years before I got there and the only foreign language available was Spanish. I took two years of it, but remember very little. Joe also took Spanish, and he remembers a little more of it than I do, but his mother was from Italy and his father spoke Italian, so he learned that at a young age. He doesn't use it very much, so he has lost a lot of it............ use it or lose it is really true. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I speak Italian, English, Filipino, Ilocano languages and I speak a little in Spanish. I learned Spanish when I was in college. I took two years but I don't remember much of it. I am glad I did. I speak ILOCANO language too. Our dialect. I can understand some in Spanish but I can't speak very well. Maybe if I live in Mexico I can learn more. I speak Italian with my children in Italy always even in the phone. With my Filipino friends we talk in our language when we are together. And I speak Ilocano with my friends who knows how to speak our dialect. Sometimes it's very confusing to me. I have to know whom I am talking to know what language I have to speak with them. But I love it. "The only way to have a friend is to be one."

In addition to English, my Japanese can get me around in Tokyo, My German can get me around Munich, my Spanish can get me around Nuevo Laredo, and my French keeps me from going to many parts Canada. Well, there is also the matter of outstanding arrest warrants in Quebec and several places in the Northwest territories. Fossil Elaine Shuel

In Quebec, as an anglophone, I was lucky it was number 2. If it were up to some, it never would have made the list. Thanks _JKH54. Elaine Shuel
