ONCOLOGY FOR TUMOR AND CANCER TREATMENT.

Today, my blog is on an Important topic which I hope may interest you. It is related to our health and it is called ONCOLOGY.

Oncology, is a branch of medical science dealing with Tumors and Cancer, their physical, chemical, biological properties, including their origin, development, diagnosis, classification, treatment and prevention of malignant neoplasms, Cancer the World second deadly disease.

An Oncologist is a doctor who specializes in treating people with cancer. The three main types of oncologists are medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists. These different types of oncologists often work together to treat a person with cancer. They are called either Cancer specialists or Oncologists. They have several specific roles. They help in diagnosis of the cancer, help in staging the cancer and grading the aggressive nature of the cancer.

Cancer is any type of malignant growth or tumor, caused by abnormal and uncontrolled cell division: it may spread through the lymphatic system or blood stream to other parts of the body, an evil influence that spreads dangerously. However, when cancer cells establish themselves in the body with their own blood supply and begin replicating out of control, cancer becomes a threatening neoplasm. The altered genes or oncogenes, direct cells to multiply abnormally, thereby taking on the Aggressive and Destructive characteristics of cancer.

Treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation are effective with many cancers, but they also end up killing healthy cells. Gene therapy attempts to correct the faulty DNA that causes the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells.

Oncology diagnostic tools

Common methods include Blood tests for biological or tumor markers. Rise of these markers in blood may be indicative of the cancer. The Clinical History of the patient. Oncology also depends on diagnostic tools like Biopsy or removal of bits of the tumor tissue and examining it under the microscope. Other diagnostic tools include Endoscopy for the gastrointestinal tract, imaging studies like X-rays, CT scanning, MRI scanning, Ultrasound and other Radiological techniques, Scintigraphy, Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography, Positron emission Tomography and Nuclear medicine techniques etc.

Based on the grade and stage of the cancer, oncologists help plan the therapy that is suitable for each of their patients. This could be by Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiation therapy and other modalities. Treatment of cancer may involve other specialists as well. This includes a surgeon, a radiation oncologists or a radiotherapist etc. The whole of the cancer therapy however is co-ordinated by the oncologists. Once initial therapy is completed the oncologists is responsible for follow up of the patient to detect relapse and remission. The former means recurrence or return of the cancer while being in remission means remaining cancer-free.

I hope the info here has given you an adequate theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. Today, millions of people all over the world, are living with cancer or have had cancer. Cancer is the second leading cause of death. To all those leaving with this dreadful disease, I wish them courage, faith, perseverance, patience, hope and may each find the successful treatment.
You are in my prayers, God bless you.
Sincerely,
Lisa.

Lisa, Mlld.
Your blog has reminded the year 1970, when I had to consult several oncologists for the treatment of my father who was suffering from this dreadful disease! Lisa, I was a young man then. I had no knowledge of this disease. I learned then how dreadful it could be! The doctors really tried but the disease was in an advanced stage, They could not help him. He had to go for the unknown world! Thanks Lisa for the blog which is highly informative. Have a nice Easter. Best wishes too.
look.

Hi MBN Looklook,

Am delighted my blog has pleased you but on the other hand, am so sorry for your father. When such case is in an advanced stage, medical treatment can do no more. It's really sad but science has its limit too and we must accept the wish of the Almighty God as well.
Long time ago, when I was also young, I wasn't aware of this disease, neither knew how deadly it was, cause very rarely there was such case here, but as I grew up, then I knew about it more in details, and gradually more cases came up. Luckily not among any member of our relatives. I came to realize that the type of productive food, with all the chemicals, such as pesticide, herbicide and insecticide may be causing more and more cases of such disease as time goes by. Not enough control eventually, I wonder if this continues, what would be the future of the next generation too.
Thank you again Looklook, I wish you all my best, keep well and take care always.
Lisa.

Beth, excellent article. I had radiation years ago but since I was also seeing a Naturopath, I was well versed on taking care of those healthy cells and dealing with those already affected by the radiation. One needs to build those cells with high antioxidants, which I did under the Naturopathic doctor's guidance. I continue to take supplementation and luckily I am not on any medication whatsoever. The problem is those excellent oncologists etc do not tell you about taking care of those healthy cells once the chemo and/or radiation is complete. My heart goes to those currently affected by cancer.
