WHAT MAKES THE RAINBOW NATION OF MAURITIUS

Today, I have posted a few pictures of the rainbow nation of Mauritius. Our nation started during the French and the British occupation of the island. Therefore with the inter-marriages between the Europeans and the others here, it has really created a mixed and beautiful population in diversity.

Therefore the physiognomy of our population is such a medley of appearances and of characteristic features. The skin color varies from Light, Tan and dark. The Tan skin is due to mix marriages with the Whites, such as to the Europeans and else, their trend was and is even now to marry the Tan skin people here. Dark skin is from those who marry only within their own community. But whatever the spectrum of the skin coloration, it eventually contributes to make the beauty of our rainbow nation as shown in the following numbered and described pictures.

1- The a random photo of the people.
2- Creole girls, for a show of our national dance, " The Sega"
3- A young Creole girl.
4- A group photo of the Hindu here.
5- The Chinese, ethnic here.
6- The Muslim community also here.
7- The Queen Elizabeth College, my Sec. school before.
8- Some participants in a contest.
9- A show on the beach by the women's club.
10- A photo of my , Emily, in our garden here.

I have very much more photos of the Mauritian nation but I can't post more than these ten pics only on a blog, as permitted.
Hoping that you have got an idea of our population and specially for you, for the first time, a photo of my .

Our Motto is: "ONE COUNTRY, ONE NATION AND ONE DESTINY"..

Thanks for your time, thanks for reading and viewing.
Lisa.

What is the socio-economic pecking order there?

Does the whiteness of you skin determine your status in society as it does in many nations?

Rentier,

You are warmly welcome to my blog, and thanks for your visit and for your nice comments as well. Rentier not at all, the skin color or race and religion here doesn't determine one's status but it's the level of education and the post held by the person. But the wealth of the person makes him more powerful for sure, as in every country but it doesn't depend whether his is white or colored.
And in the Gov. sectors or in private, among the employees, every community must be represented too, of course according to his level of education. In every community here, there are certainly very highly educated persons too.
Here, it is an obligation by law, for any kid as from 5 to 16, to attend school.
Thanks again for your concern, wishing you all my best.
Lisa.
