Bay Leaf Tree

Bay laurel is known here in my homeland as “Tejpata”.

How tall do bay leaf trees get?
The tree in my garden is now thirty feet tall. It may grow up to 40 feet. Bay leaves can also be maintained as large shrubs in containers.

What are the benefits of bay leaves?
It is a good source of Vitamin A, vitamin B6, and vitamin C. Bay leaf tea can help ease bouts of upset stomachs. The tea is also very aromatic, which can help relieve sinus pressure or a stuffy nose.

 Bay leaf is considered by some as an effective mosquito repellent! I am not sure about it though.

 Interesting! I never thought much about where they came from and how they grew. I only see them in a jar. Next time I use them I will know where they came from.

Abelle, glad to read from you here on my blog page. Bay leaf also grows in your Country. California bay leaf is known as California laurel. The state is famous for growing best bay leaf in the United States of America. Bay leaf is also grown in Oregon state as far as I know. We use mostly dried bay leaf here in this part of the world.  I USE BAY LEAVES AS MANY DO IN MANY RECIPES. ILIKE THE FLAVOR IT GIVES. . I FOUND THE Mediterranean BAY LEAF ADDS A MORE SPICY TASTE TO ROAST N SOUPS. THANK YOU FOR THE POST

Thanks, Maudie, for your post. Bay leaf has many more benefits that I have not mentioned. This particular tree was planted by me in my small garden nearly 25 years before this date. Our neighbors are encouraged to collect leaves from the tree whenever they need them. I hope you are doing fine. Be safe.
