C is the 13th most frequently used letter in the English Alphabet

Foto Friday: Letter C

The third letter of the English alphabet is C.
We all know that some words starting with the letter C are difficult to spell correctly if one is not careful enough.

Though my mother tongue is not English, I was obliged to learn English for obvious reasons when I was a born in British India. However, I could never understand why the word “chic” should not be written as “shik”? Similarly, what about the word “coin”? Why should we not write it as “Koin” instead of “Coin” when the letter C in this case sounds like K? In some cases, C may sound like S, K, Sh. It may remain silent too in a particular case.

Perhaps, an English linguist can explain the problem properly.

Meanwhile, I take the opportunity to upload the picture of the Ceiling Fan mounted in the middle of one of the rooms of my home as my only choice for this week’s Foto Friday entry.

Cheers and be Cool.

Isn't the fan suspended from the ceiling of the room?

If it were mounted on the floor or wall it could create a real mess and then we would have to watch where we walk!

Cheers to you too.

Your ceiling fan must come in really handy in hot weather! I'm sure you're very glad you have it. When I was redecorating my dining room I was thinking of installing one and then a chandelier caught my eye and that was the end of my ceiling fan plans because there wasn't enough room for both. Oh well ... regular fans have worked out just fine so far.

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

Thanks for your comments, Abelle. It is not possible to mount a ceiling fan on the floor. Therefore, no need to worry about space for walking. I trust that you are both keeping well. I wish you and Alfee happy Christmas in advance. Be safe.

Pearls, we live in a tropical country where Fans of different kinds are essential to keep us cool during most parts of the year. Here in the tropical country, one can live without having chandeliers but not without having Ceiling Fans. We require to install ceiling fans in all the rooms of the house. Thanking you also for stopping by, Happy Christmas in advance, Stay safe,

I DO HOPE THAT FAN IS WELL FIXED ON THAT CEILING AND WON'T FALL DOWN. MY AC UNIT IS ON THE FLOOR SO NO WAY THAT CAN HAPPEN.
THE SPELLING ISSUES YOU MENTION COULD BE SETTLED IF ONLY PURISTS WOULD ALLOW SIMPLIFICATION BUT WE WILL NOT LIVE TO SEE IT.

I live in a tropical country too, but in this part of the country the temp is not as hot as in the North or South. We have fans only in the rooms upstairs.
Greetings!

Yes, Archer, all the Ceilings Fans hanging from the room ceilings of my home are well fixed to avoid such unwanted accidents. But again, none can foretell about an accident. It happens without notice. Please pray for my safety, my friend.
You are right about the spelling issues. We won't see it happen during our lifetime. Merry Christmas in advance. Stay safe.

I understand the confusion of the English language. Although it is my first language, I am hard of hearing and hear words differently. I would often mispronounce words or get a message mixed up. I don't worry about it like I did in my youth. I just laugh about it. I am okay with talking and being different. I also have a ceiling fam. My landlord keeps asking when I am going to get an air conditioner. I grew up in the desert. The local West Virginians have no clue what hot really is. Regular fan along with the ceiling fan and running around in a sports bra work for me

I am glad to read from you after such a long time. You are lucky, Lucy. Summertimes in this part of the world is almost unbearable. We can't imagine a home without having multiple fans. I wish you Merry Christmas in advance. Stay cheerful and safe.

Star, I can't imagine you running around in a sports bra here in this part of my world until now. But believe me, things are changing very rapidly here on too. Most of the homes owned by middle-class people are not only well-ventilated but air-conditioned too. I can only imagine living in a desert home though I have seen people living in tents in such places while touring North African and Middle Eastern Countries. Stay well and safe always. I wish you Merry Christmas in advance.

I wish you a Merry Christmas in advance, Maudie. Fans are a must here. Most of our master bedrooms are either air-conditioned or have two ceiling fans. In villages, people are using solar panels for electricity. Things are changing here very rapidly. I had skipped visiting your country while visiting Europe in the year 1975. I now feel that there was much to see in Ireland.
It is winter here too now. Cold but not unbearable. We like winter very much here. It's harvesting season. Be safe, dear friend. Please do stay well. Cheers~~

Ceiling fans are a relatively new thing in my life, we didn't have them growing up or even in my early adult years. I have two in my house now, but never turn them on. The stirring of the air is too uncomfortable for Joe, it makes him feel chilly.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Thank you so much for your post, Mrs. Joe. Ceiling Fans are not new in our lives. In comparison to Ceiling Fans, Air conditioning can be considered relatively new here. We use both. You can control the airflow of the ceiling Fans if you like. Hope both you and Joe are doing well. Stay safe and cheerful always.
