MY FIRST DATE IN 20 YEARS -- #-o

About a month ago-- on a Wednesday I wrote a silly blog. I said-- the next man who asked me out-- I would go.

The next Friday, my girlfriend, and I (of course, Vera, my dog) went to a little bar. It has music, and dancing. It wasn't long and a man asked my friend to dance. She was off and gone.

I was left like I was an old shoe.

I soon felt someone very close to the back of my neck and a soft quiet voice asked me-- "Can I buy you a drink?"

His voice-- reminded me of someone I knew-- and instead of making me uncomfortable-- as I usually feel when a stranger approaches me-- it was all right.

I smiled and asked him if he could afford my drink? When he asked what it was. I answered "coffee."

We ended up talking for an hour. I made a dinner date with him.
We've spent part of everyday together since then.

He is 46 and I am 62 .

It's been fun! We've danced. He's sings to me. He's easy to talk to. He's soft spoken and has a funny sense of humor. He's ambitious.

Yesterday, I told him goodbye. He is 16 years younger than me. He is 13 years older than my oldest .

I have not let him meet my .

My sister and my friends say he is handsome. I tried to get him to date my sister-- there is only 6 years age difference between them. (My sister is beautiful and ten years younger than me)

I can't see a future in dating a person with such a big age difference. He says age is just a number.

Laughing-- Yes I'm still just as silly as I was the day I wrote the other blog. Some things never change.

It has been a couple of interesting couple of weeks. I sure am going to miss that guy! I hope he finds someone who is wonderful and treats him good!

Think I'm ready to date a grownup now.

Maybe one will ask me

I have a friend from high school that married a guy 15 years younger than her. He also told her, age was just numbers and it did not matter. They have been married 30+ years. She had a hard time with it when they first met and went on a date but it worked!

Hi Abelle,

It may be for some people-- but I can't see myself doing it. The neat thing about going out-- I finally did it-- and had a good time.

I'm not sure about the age difference thing as I never dated anyone significantly younger than me for any length of time. I did spend a week's vacation with someone 15 years younger than me once but that wa just for fun.

However, I do believe you were correct in ending thins if you aren't interested in cultivating the relationship. It's not fair to lead anyone on no matter what the reason. Kudos for putting common sense ahead of fun.

Hi spirit-

I guess we all need to get out of the box once in awhile This was a huge milestone for me! I'm glad I got to be with such a polite and respectful man this past couple of weeks. It was very encouraging.

My GF is 19 and 1/2 years older than me. We've been a couple for almost 17 years. (Yup. Right now I'm 58. She recently turned 78.)

I was married twice before I met her. Both together amounted to 10 years of marriage.

Good things can happen.

GBU,

Gavin

WOW! Gavin!

That is wonderful. A little shocked but then you're such a great guy I'm not surprised either-- it wouldn't matter who you were with-- you would put your everything into it! Thanks for reading my blog!
