A step in the right direction - labor wins

In a stunning development the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) reached a decision that is sure to have far reaching benefits for employees that have seen their wages stagnate while the cost of living has increased under conservative political guidance.

The latest ruling provides that franchise operated fast food restaurants among those of other businesses to be classified as "joint employers". This means that employees of all McDonalds, Burger Kings, Wendys and other franchise operated restaurants to be under their corporate umbrella, can organize and join a union if they so desire. This will bring collective bargaining back into the work place. Can you imagine McDonalds or KFC's response to a strike that would shut down a major segment of their restaurants if workers were not bargained with in good faith and not given a fair and equitable wage?

This not only affects fast food but also affects other e-commerce and manufacturing businesses.

Legal experts say that it will be very difficult to challenge this ruling in court.

This is a step in the right direction. A reversal of the right wing war on the middle class and a step toward the day when a worker is once again fairly compensated.
