Hey Leonardo DiCaprio that scary wind is back in Alberta

Leo is probably out on his new yacht burning up all that disel fuel, writing a new speech about climate change or indigenous rights. Oh well, if any sees him, tell Leo that the warm ary wind is blowing in Southern Alberta again.
Our cold spell of -20.2F is now at 15.8F and by noon tomorrow we will be sitting at a balmy 30.2F. Those darn Chinook winds eh?

Yes, Dinty... Ottawa & the far north can be awfully cold..but not sure I'd call it 'damp'. One year we were stationed up in the James Bay area... now that is bloody cold OMG especially one day when we knew it was going to be -50 but terrible windchills, making it -85. Sure we dressed for it, wearing a parka, balaclava etc etc. LOL

Oh Dinty, how we wish we had Chinooks in Ontario, as occasional as they may seem to you out west! Well we've had nothing but below zero (double digits) since Christmas! Tonight for example, they are forecasting -17C with 90km winds, which could probably result in windchill temps of -30C to -41C... can I say 'brrrrr' (damn cold)!! And to top it off, many people are down with colds, bad coughs etc. How many days to spring???
Salsa you have had a lot of bad storms in Ontario. I must phone my friend in Kitchener to see how they are making out. She drives up to Georgetown all the time where her daughter lives. I hope she is taking care when she is on the highway.

Dinty, as for climate change, you know what you can tell Leonardo to do & where to go?

I have experienced winter in many parts of Canada, even the far North, and we have found winter in the Ottawa and Outaouais area to be the most difficult to endure. Could it be a damp cold?

It's unbelievably cold here near Niagara Falls and it looks like Siberia outside with snow and ice everywhere. This weekend it's supposed to be even way colder than it is now I think it will be -17 on Friday. It's hard to believe Winter just started about a week ago.

Hi Bijou, guess you could make Niagara ice wine in this weather eh? I know it's not funny, so bundle up and keep warm an wrap your hands around a mug of hot chocolate.

I really do hate to say it: 15C here, in other words 59F, sunny but windy last night. Global warming by the way is defined as getting warmer at the north and south poles while getting colder in the temperate zones where flooding from the melting ice will cause the oceans to rise.

Sounds nice Archer. I have been at the most Northerly permanent settlement in the world several times, at Alert Nunavut, and of course a few times at Eureka Nunavut. Checked the temps there today, and they are running at the average temp back in 1965 of -34C (not including wind chill). Also been to the Axel Heiberg petrified forest. You can still burn some of the wood that is there. Of course I did not take any photos per se, but I have it all on my video camera. So perhaps the weather is returning to the way it was 30 thousand years ago or even 40 or 50 million years ago.

At 10am, we are standing at -1F with a feels like temp of -12F. I had to walk out to the mailbox to put some things in it, and started the car because it had not been started since Thursday. She was a bit hesitant at first, then fired right up. I'm letting it warm up for a bit, while I try to warm up with a cup of coffee.
After I take out the trash, I will get out of these cold shoes and wrap my feet up nice and warm. I wonder if I could get by with saying that was all the work I'll do today? LOL

For sure, stay warm mrsjoe. Good idea to start the vehicle and let it warm up at least one a day in cold weather.

We're in Georgia and we awoke to a 22F this morning. BRRRRrrrrrr....

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.
