Who left the door open

We all have, well I think we all have, a Black Sheep of the family. The black sheep of my family was my second oldest brother Al. He was a free spirit who would leave home for long periods of time and wander all over the place. An adventurous you might say, with no means of support. A free spirit for sure, until he got married once or twice and settled down.

Anyway, he would leave home on an adventure and just before he would come home, the back door of the house would open on it's own. No pop or spring open, but that slow creaky open like . The door would open someone would get up and close it, hours later it would open again. Heck, you could lock the door and it would some how open itself. I remember the first time that dad locked the door after a series of openings. He sat down after locking the door and started reading the paper. The door started to creak open and the paper dad was reading slowly came down in time with the creak, as he peered over the top of his glasses at the door he said "I thought I locked that damn thing " When ever the door opened on its own Mom would always say Al is on his way home. Sure enough in four or five days Al would wander back through the door and take up where he left off, and the door would stop opening on its own. Until the next time Al would wander off that is. Strange I know, but true.

 Good story dinty. I believe you. We in Ireland have a lot of these stories and of course they are true.

 We free spirit types have a way of sending our energy ahead of us - He was likely thinking about home so strongly that part of him was already there.

 Hi Dinty: Wow, that must have been scary to hear that door creaking open like that. Very strange. Some weird things happened in our house too. Once in awhile you could hear the sound of children laughing and running up and down the stairs, but all the children in the family were already downstairs in the living room, so it wasn't us.
