I have arrived

At least I think I have arrived. I have been blocked on a blog. At least I think I have been blocked. Does "only friends of ...... can post" mean your blocked? Yeah that must be it, because if it meant only friends can post, then some people would never have any posting on their blogs. My last post was even deleted along with my "you win" line. This is sooooo cool. I might start a blocked bloggers club. Any advice?

I see someone is determined to ruin the blogs as they did the magazine by trying to make people take sides. Using Destiny's name is about as low as he can go.

Don't worry about being blocked just worry about being suckered into his game.

Hobbie. Thank you for dropping by. Looks like the old saying, darned if you do and darned if you dont. I am not worried about being blocked, but I did not know there were so many rules about blogging. Is there a book of or a site about blog rules that I don't know about?

Nope, I would not block you, I enjoy your postings and find a lot of truth in your answers. You speak your mind as you see it, and there is nothing wrong with that. Your blogs are interesting.

Well Dinty, I was always taught that rudeness is not an opinion. It is merely rudeness...also bad manners.
I find it sad that you think calling someone an ape is just an opinion and that it's not your place to object, or indeed, to express an opinion on.

There are certain people (myself included) here in the blogs who are reviled, insulted and negatively blogged about as a matter of course...whether they blog or not. And by the same people over and over again.

A blog is a blogger's personal space and, as such, we are each responsible for what we allow to be displayed on them by ourselves and by others. If we allow others to insult on our blogs without any form of remonstrance, we make ourselves as guilty as they are.

It ain't rocket science to be mannerly, just common decent human behaviour and to my mind calling people apes is not that.

PS...as far as I can tell, no-one here was ever "scared to death of Destiny" she was a perfectly reasonable and mannerly woman. So what a despicable slur on her name that is.

I understood it as an euphemism meaning that Destiny(a loving friend of my life) would debate an issue in a manner that the debater would fear loosing. The author of that quote has great respect for Destiny, I saw no disparaging remark.

You are right, no one was ever "scared to death of Destiny" she was a perfectly reasonable and mannerly woman. She was and is highly RESPECTED. My opinion!

Dinty, if you are as nice as people think, why do you allow such insulting comments as this to stand on your blog?

Why is it that comments and attitudes like this are judged to be acceptable behaviour?

If you allow it to stand without even a comment, surely that must mean that you condone churlish and ignorant manners?

If that's the case...why are you complaining of alpine's manners in blocking you?

Hi Katie. Good to see you again. I did answer JKH's posting, just did not use his handle, kinda an "understood" reply. I know he was a good friend of Destiny's and he respected and liked Destiny very much, with the other person he noted, just the opposite. I do not condone churlish and ignorant manners, but I respect the right of the person to say it. Same as I do not have to like a person in order to be civil to them.

I have not been appointed a judge to rule on submissions, that task lies with SFF. As I said every one has a right to respond to my blogs, even Alpine, just as I have the right to ignore the postings. Anyone who reads this blog also has the right to skip over any postings they find offensive or apposed to their views or the right to comment. Much as you have done. I find you an intelligent lady and find your posting interesting. I may not agree with all of them though.

I am not complaining of Alpine's manners in blocking me, she does have the right, but I am complaining in her manners of asking me several questions and not having to good manners of letting me answer the questions, and also for having misquoted me.

Hi Dinty, Sometimes the person has "Friends only" blogs set up the wrong way, by mistake, and when they are told they change the settings. However, I dont know who this is.

Ah Robyn, always glad to see your smiling face. Yep I have seen that happen, and there are some who like to blog and have interesting postings, but have a "response not required" message. They were tired of being attacked by some of the more aggressive members. It is sure a varied and interesting lot we have here on SFF.

"Only friends" means you have to be an sff friend of the blogger, you have to belong to his/her friends network. You can always ask that person to belong to your friends network and if the person accepts, you should be able to respond to blogs.

Thank you for that explanation Archer. It is an option I will remember for sure. The devil would have to buy a pair of skates before this member would except an invitation to my friends network though. She is always welcome to comment on my blog though.

Hello ET. Always enjoy your blogs/postings. I have to agree with you, it is there for a good reason, but when the blog owner makes an untrue, demeaning statement or misquotes you and blocks you when you respond to their questions, then it is not a valid block. If you do not want an answer, do not pose a question.

Maybe the person who put 'Friends only...' was using it as a way to garner more friends, or clicked on that circle by accident (It does happen.)

Even comments can be deleted by accident. I'm not trying to be a 'Suzy Sunshine', but it does happen.

Hi bigblock. I would be quite stupid to think everyone agreed with me. This person was talking about book banning and how anti-intellectual it is to ban, then boink, I'm banned....how rude and hypocritical.
