Photo Monday

One of the things I love to do in in Puerto Vallarta is a leisurely lunch at one of the little restaurants along the river and watch the native wild life. The iguana's here grow as large as a medium sized dog. They come out mid day to soak up the sun, much as I like to do.

My sister had one that was small, kind of miniature poodle size, that followed her around like a dog.

My sister had one that did the same, although it was small, only about the size of her mini pincher.

Nope, the restaurants are covered. My son has a bearded dragon - talk about a mini dinosaur. I love to get her some crickets and watch her stalk them. Just like a scene from Jurassic Park

Interesting looking creature and big to boot - I imagine they are very slow moving (?). I wonder if the iguana inspired much Aztec/Mexican art?

Hi sw,

Great shit? The iguana looks a lot like the lizard in Australia and are about the same size too.

Good question. I will look for iguana inspired themes in native art. I know Huichols have a lizard symbol but is not used often.

Probably the same or at least a close relative. Iguanas are native to many of the warmer regions.
