photo monday - v is for view

Last weekend a friend and I hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in Maryland. The view is over the Cumberland Valley from Annapolis Rocks, very near the trail. The mountain laurel was still blooming. At Gathland State Park you can see structures (including the remains of this building) that were part of the estate of George Alfred Townsend, a Civil War correspondent.

I dedicated our hike to Thegrouch.

That looks like a wonderful place to spend some time. Beautiful scenery.

Thank you for visiting and commenting. This is a walk I've wanted to take for a long time, and now I can check it off my bucket list. I managed only 9 miles, but it has effected some good changes in my life.

What is REALLY inspiring is to talk to the through-hikers. I cannot imagine hiking the whole trail.
