We don't have the right to judge. JUST A BIKER I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local Mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked out front. But you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your . But you didn't see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our Leather jackets and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my where born or have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family. I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your in the car. But you didn't see me pat my 's hands knowing she was safe behind me. I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn't see me trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road. I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me. EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE US, RESPECT OUR RIGHTS AND TAKE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS TO BE SURE WE ARE NOT IN 'YOUR' WAY .... |

Thanks Rocket, though the message is about motorcyclists I feel it can relate to passing judgement on other people in other areas of life as well. Human nature tends to be critical of others just because they appear different from themselves whether it be Race,Colour,Appearances,Personal preference and the list goes on etc etc. We just don't have that right for we ourselves are not perfect.

Jano, I myself have a very nice lawn mower man no he is not a biker but when I first saw him I was not sure as he was very young and a bit rough around the edges. He had left a flier in my letterbox and I rang because my lawn had been left untented for quite a while, he quoted me $60 for a job I thought would cost $100 or more. I later found that he worked until 3am and then did lawns and odd jobs to support his family (wife & 3 young children. I was so impressed with him that he has been doing my lawn now for about 2 years or so, it's a large area on a corner block, he gets rid of the grass and has gotten rid of other rubbish for me as well, all this for $40. Can't judge a person by thier appearence ay!

Katie,Jimbob,Veita, Thanks so much for your comments I think that prejudice is an awful state of affairs, we all have something to give and receive from all cultures. I also think that some of the judgements comes from fear. If we are unable to trust others because of our own fear and beliefs we may find ourselves trapped in our own minds, never learning or experiencing new and different things, people or cultures.

My son rides a motor bike and has done for years. He is very responsible, has a good job, and is a very good person. people do give bikers a bad time, he has told me about a few. Onee morning a young L driver came out in front of him and knocked him off his bike. As she was an L driver, of course Daddy came to the rescue and sorted it out for his little darling. he doesnt know how lucky he was that it was my son. Someone else would have taken him to court.

Loon hi, Thanks for your comments you have a valid point we do need to use common sense and air on the cautious side depending on previous experoences however there are still many people who will look down on folk because they are different. While the email is a generalisation I feel it does make us think a little about the other side of the coin so to speak. i.e. Appearance does not dictate the actions or behaviour of a person.
