What a really great blog this is Pat. I enjoyed reading it so much. It was like taking a glimpse into your lives past and present. I too am now with my last love and Ann and I are enjoying every moment of it. We owe SFF for bringing us together to enjoy these years, and we give thanks regularly for what we have.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

What a great read!

As Alfie said, we owe SFF for our last loves.

Our first loves were in the past...

Great discussion of some of the major life issues we face at this time in our lives.

It's is always bitter sweet when we have or choose to end an activity. I completely understand why you are ending your flea market "job". Your reasons are exactly why I do not go into selling my "creations" in any large scale way and why I left the day job years ago. There comes a time when we need and or want to be from from the commitments.

As for loves - I have to admit I have had more than 2, probably becasue I am more than a handful to live with. Each was different and appropriate at their time in my life. The main one was special and irreplaceable. That seldom happens once in a lifetime. I consider those leading up to it giving me the experience to be able to appreciate a good thing and those since as being comfortable and mutually beneficial. No man or woman is an island.

As for a last one - I haven't completely closed the door on my future yet. My grandmother got a marriage proposal when she was 92 and in a nursing home. Of course she didn't take it becasue as she put it "I have enough problems without getting into that." I do think each of us knows instinctively when.we are "done" with relationships and partnerships.

Happy Birthday to Joe. I enjoyed reading your post. You are fortunate that you felt the same for your first and last loves. For me, they were (first love) and are (present one) special, in very different ways. My first love was full of excitement and romance and I really believed that I could never love after him. My present boyfriend and I have a level of comfort I never felt with even with my first love. From the moment he took me in his arms, it just felt right. We love each other and I can't imagine life with anyone else.
