Boycott The Olympics?! Naw!!!!

Nothing will inspire my support more swiftly than the suggestion that I should boycott it.

There are some folks getting their bloomers all twisted up because they are offended by the presence of drag queens and other members of the GLBTQ community who allegedly spoofed Leonardo Di Divinci's "The Last Supper."

Ironically Da Vinci was accused, jailed, and put on trial for being gay. Fortunately, he was acquitted and narrowly escaped a death sentence.

Happily, I took a classes in Art Appreciation, Art History, and attempted a few Art Classes. The presentation done by the GLBTQ folks for the Olympics was not "The Last Supper." The Paintings and Statues portrayed in the opening was to related Greek Mythology and the history of the Olympics on display mostly at the Louvre in Paris.

I am inclined to believe that the alleged spoof on Da Vinci's art was actually a reenactment of "The Feast of the Gods." painted by Dutch Artist Jan van Bijlert. T

Although Jesus had a talent for turning water into wine, he was not the naked blue man covered in grapevines running around in the reenactment. The Wine God Dionysus and Jesus never crossed paths. The actually reenactment of the GLBTQ was edited out. I was able to find parts of it on y0uTube. It appears to be tacky but I've seen French Fashion Runway shows just as outrageous. It shouldn't really matter.

These young athletes worked long and hard to get to the Olympics and deserve our support.

The outrage is much ado about nothing. It had nothing to do about The Last Supper. People should be worried more about MAGA portraying Trump as Jesus, than anything that happened in the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony.

I LIVE HERE AND MUST ADMIT I ONLY WATCHED A LITTLE OF THE CEREMONY FOR PERIODS OF A FEW MINUTES EACH. I THOUGHT SOME OF IT WAS IN RATHER POOR TASTE BUT THAT HAS NOT PREVENTED ME FROM WATCHING THE SPORTS I LIKE MOST. THE ATHLETES HAVE WORKED AND TRAINED HARD FOR YEARS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GAMES SO WHO AM I TO REFUSE TO ENCOURAGE THEIR EFFORTS NO MATTER WHAT PLACE THEY ARE FROM AND SUCH???

It’s my belief that some people aren’t happy unless they have something to complain about. There are even conspiracy theories popping up now about the heavy metal performance of the band Gojira and the Marie Antoinette’s holding their heads in their hands. People are claiming this was Satanic and ritualistic. I say untighten your panties and just enjoy it for what it was .. entertainment.
