Bravo to our Lady GOP Senators ] THANK YOU!!!!!! Senator Susan Collins of Maine, Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, AND Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia Thank you for doing what is best for the American People Senator Susan Collins has called for Republicans to work with Democrats to fix the current health care law — and on Tuesday, her decision to oppose the repeal effort may have helped ensure that that would be her party’s only remaining option Senator Murkowski said Tuesday that she would oppose the repeal-only effort. “Repealing the A.C.A. without a clear path forward just creates confusion and greater uncertainty,” she said in a statement. Senator Shelley Moore Capito became the first woman elected to the Senate in her state’s history in 2014, after serving 14 years in the House of Representatives. Since then, she has proved open to working with Democrats, particularly when it comes to addressing the acute opioid problem in West Virginia, which has the nation’s highest rate of overdose deaths. |

The problem with ObamaCare is that it didn't go far enough but I suspect that it went far as it could at that time. A Single Payer Health Plan is not a free ride. We pay for it but we get health care for ALL United States citizens. The other western nations do it so why can't we.

Obama wanted a single payor system as exists in most of the rest of the developed world, but it's the best he could do given Republican opposition.

Healthcare Providers who needs em! Single payer is around the corner and Healthcare Insurance providers know it. They have a short window of time left to rip off taxpayer dollars, and they're going at it full throttle. The big question is which party is going to get CREDIT for something that actually works.

I wouldn't call it cowardly. Obama's single payer agenda lacked support on both sides of the isle. The Republican 'nothing burger' solution to the problem at that time was .. "what problem there's no problem". So in Obama's wisdom (to use your words) Obama has forced the Republican party come up with a 'something burger' for a change. Or maybe get fired. Hilarious

That's certainly one way to look at it. Another is that he compromised with the Republicans hoping that his bill would be the first step in an evolutionary process to getting something rational. No question that the ACA is a dog's breakfast. Somewhere I have quote from the Economist that sums it up nicely.
