PHTO MONDAY - WOOD

The bed is part of a mahogany bedroom set that was manufactured circa 1915. It had a high, wrap-around foot board which my threw out during a house move! I bought the set in an antique shop in Pasadena and was told that it came out of a large estate. What was interesting was that the set also came with a matching twin bed.

When we have toured old mansions here in Georgia, a lot of them have smaller matching beds for the child or children to share possibly.

I think your explanation of why the twin bed, is probably right.

It really is a lovely piece of furniture and the room itself looks so comfortable. I would guess the twin bed was for a child too.

Alfie...

I love the set although my kids will probably get rid of it when I kick the bucket!

Nice setting for a nice piece of furniture. Maybe the twin bed is for people who need alternatives - like Alfie and his shed.

That's a good explanation. I hope Afie has a soft bed in his shed!

Now that is a good explanation. I wonder if Alfie has a soft bed in his shed!

Lovely headboard of that bed.

Thank you. I should have taken a closer shot. There appears to be a coat of arms on the headboard which doesn't show up.
