Memory? What Memory I've begun the long process of obtaining a long-term care policy. A nurse came today to check me out and asked lots of questions about my health, needs, in addition to weighing me, taking my blood pressure, and even checking my actual height against what I had indicated. I guess they are looking for shrinkage! I was doing great up until she gave me a short-term memory test which was comprised of ten words to use in a sentence! Ten minutes later, she asked me to list the ten words! Yikes! My mind went blank and I could only come up with 4! In addition to being embarrassed, I felt depressed! We laugh about forgetting things, but when it counts, it isn't a laughing matter any more! Have you noticed changes in your short-term memory? |

Coney, the fees are based on how many years of coverage you want. The more years, the higher the cost. I elected a 2 yr. plan which fits into my budget and the premiums are approx. $2,500 per year. The plan would provide $100.00/day coverage, or $3000 a month, until the amount in my account was depleted. The longer I stay healthy, the more money I will accumulate. If a care facility's monthly cost is $4,500, I would be responsible for the difference. The tests are required to determine if you are insurable, based on your mental and physical health.

RS... you're being modest! Good idea, FS. I take various herbs now. I guess it's time to add one more. Thanks for the advice. . . it can't hurt!

funny isnt it when you can recall with ease what happenned 40 years ago but ten minutes ago is a challenge i do think keeping working keeps your mind more active for longer whilst retirement can place some people into the railway sidings

Denver, if it had been a phone interview, I would have jotted the words down, but this was face-to-face. Blackpool, I think we become lazy as we age. If we can't remember a word or a name, chances are, the person we are talking with, will come up with it.

Billy, I drew a blank! There is a possibility that I may be rejected. However, my agent suggested that I fill out an application with another company as backup! Maybe I'll luck out and I'll have a phone interview this time!
