Can you explain to me..

How Tivo works?

I am thinking about getting Tivo for my dad as part of a christmas gift.. I am a little confused on how it works.

Does it go with the cable or satelite that is already in place in the house or is it a system unto itself?

Can it be on all the TV's in the house.. seeing we have 4 of them or is it just on the main TV?

Can you share some of the pros and cons of Tivo also... I want to make sure it's a good idea for a gift..

 Hi Jes4, if you google "how does tivo work" a few info sites come up one in particular has indepth info on the product, what TIVO does, how it works, compatability, etc. Answers all of your questions.
