It is fun to watch the bird build a nest and all the way to the babies hatching and finally leaving. I think Alfie posted pictures of the progresses a couple of years ago. One year a huge snake opened his mouth and I hollered to Alfie. By the time he got to the nest the snake had sucked them in. It was so sad. We did have one one year and watching the birds teach the baby how to fly. Luckily they build the nest and lay the eggs in a corner shelf just outside the kitchen window so we were able to watch by standing back.

I looked at the picture first, and it took me a moment to see it. Then I read your comment. I'm afraid I am a sour apple because I view it differently. To me, it would be an intrusion. That area cannot be used for quite awhile now, and then you have to clean up the bird poop. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

You are very lucky ET.

As you are a kind lady Earthy, you can not ask the dove to leave! Let Robins do the nasty job for you if they like! But it will not happen as the Robins are not known to be racists!

If you want more of those, I can provide at least a dozen. They eat the flowers in my flower boxes.

Oh Earthy how cute it is but have to agree with Pat about cleaning up the bird poop. Quite a number of years ago I used to have hanging baskets and the wrens or some small birds decided to build a nest. They had it built before I knew they were in there. The first year I thought it was cute and then they came back the following year as I had the hanging baskets again. The little birds were really cute but the mess was so bad I couldn't keep up with cleaning the mess up. So when they started coming back the next year I discouraged them and that was the end of it. I don't have hanging baskets anymore as the hooks disappeared when we were having some work done on the building. I wasn't interested in doing it anymore anyway.
