Seemed to belong here. I am not a political poster. I did however see a disturbing trend in certain portions of out society this week. So, I thought I'd do two thing, I don't do. One, be somewhat political and two, drop a Bible quote.

Somehow it seemed right.

Since you broke your self set boundary, I will also. I have no problem with helping people, native born or alien, but I see a difference between legal and illegal. Every person entering a country in which they were not born, has a story and a reason for wanting to do so. Without checking them thoroughly, people with nefarious motives come in freely. We lock our houses and cars for a reason, our country's borders should also be locked. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

THE THING IS YOU JUST PLAIN CANNOT ALWAYS LOVE THEM. I CANNOT COMPLAIN, I FOLLOWED THE RULES AND MADE THE EFFORTS TO INTEGRATE. UNFORTUNATELY THERE ARE MANY WHO DO NOT MAKE THAT EFFORT AND EXPECT TO RECEIVE EVERYTHING AND GIVE NOTHING OR JUST PLAIN MAKE LIFE VERY DIFFICULT FOR EVERYONE ELSE. SAD BUT SO VERY TRUE.

I think that was Moses instructing the Jewish tribe of Levi how to treat strangers who want to live among them. He made no exceptions to his rule supposedly given to him by God. Love Them As Yourself. That is It! You either go by it or you don't.

My personal view of it is if Cristians can't follow the rule, it is nothing more than BS. Pray On!

Re: "The alien residing among you must be treated as your native-born." Native-born people must obey the law, and pay consequences if they don't. ... People who begin their "residence among us" by violating our laws should be forced to comply with our laws. Enter the country legally, or do not enter. ... It is NOT showing a lack of love to expect people to follow the law.

So how do the indigenous people feel about that?

Re: "how do the indigenous people feel about that?" I do not know if the various indigenous peoples had laws and enforcement mechanisms regarding aliens. ... I do know that native Americans conquered each other via warfare. I live in Florida. ... My understanding is that the "original" (all humans on North America originated elsewhere) people living in Florida when the Spanish arrived were killed, either thru war or disease. ... If we were to attempt to rectify the Spanish invasion, what would we do? ... There are no heirs to the previous inhabitants, so should all of Florida be vacated?

I try to treat everyone with kindness and respect. ![]() Those who commit illegal acts in my community, no matter their status, or disrespect me or my community do not deserve my respect or kindness.

It looks to me like the culture war Christians spend a lot of time on what parts of the Bible they want to "use" and ignore what doesn't suit their self-serving agenda. They definitely don't want to "use" the 7th Commandment or 9th Commandment. The "one issue" "Christians" won't even talk about the fact that it's illegal to hire illegal immigrants ... or prosecuting those who do the hiring.
