I agree. I'm not sure what the appeal is. A long time ago I accepted an invitation from a friend to go to a casino. I'm not a gambler and wasn't terribly interested in slot machines but he suggested that I give it a try. I sat down at the machine. He inserted the money and within seconds the game was over and the money was gone. All I could think of was how that money (though not a huge amount) could have helped me pay my bills. They say you shouldn't gamble more than you can afford to lose. Sounds about right to me. My friend could afford it so he just shrugged it off. I, on the other hand, couldn't have afforded it if it had been my money and I was disturbed by the loss.

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

After hearing others talk, I wanted to go to a casino, so while Joe and I were visiting my oldest son on his job in Madisonville, WI, he took us. I was not impressed. Everything was electronic, just push a button.
Now, almost everyone has a gambling place near them, at least in the cities of IL.
I have a friend who took a part time job as the "hostess" of one in a small city near us, on Saturday mornings, and she told me there are people there as soon as she opens the doors at 8am.

I very rarely gamble whether it's lottery tickets or at a casino since I'm extremely unlucky.

I have a gal pal who always wins in draws, and at the casinos. She has horse shoes up her ass~~

If I go to a casino with her I set my limit at $20. and chalk it up to an hour or two of entertainment....

I am glad I am not into gambling, and that I quit drinking 28 years ago. I don't get what is Las Vegas attraction to people.

I believe that there are people at the casinos 24/7.

I hear you. I won't bother setting foot at the casino door. Nowadays there are casinos everywhere.

The only time I play the Powerball Lotto is when it reaches over 100 million. I won 200 dollars once, but that was it. .

Going to gambling places have never been my forte. I have been to Las Vegas, Tahoe Lake and Reno. At the time when I went you got free drinks when you gambled. They had huge buffet style breakfasts. Plus your money went a lot further in those days. I have been there and done that and have no desire to go back. We have a number of gambling joints where I live but they don't interest me. I don't play the lotteries either. Your chances of winning are nil so why waste your money and time.

Me either. I try to stay away to places where casinos are the main attraction. Which is why I stay away from Atlantic City. .

I can't think of a worse way to spend a day than playing slot machines. Sad the way so many people get hooked and lose so much money.

Re: Moral of the story

The moral of the story is Big Government sux. ... Not all people who work for the government are bad, but bad people are drawn to government, seeking the opportunity to control others, and to profit by exploiting government power.

You are probably right. The casinos and the government want their cut.
