I hope I am a no-nonse, down-to-earth person who has recently discovered SAILING is my newest passion.
I am starting this week as a volunteer for for a mission in town that caters to homeless, immigrants,
and those who have fallen on hard times in this economic situation. It is a reminder to me, of how
God has chosen to bless me. I am working on quality
control to try and improve the center's ability to
serve those who come for help in a more effective way.
This summer I *did time* @ The Open Door, a resource
center/intake center for community homelessness. That
turned out to be quite interesting & enlightening. I also volunteered at the Community Center for The Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing recently.
Since these photos were taken (10/07) I have lost 40 pounds in this past year. My *goal weight* is 50 pounds which I expect to reach by the end of 2008. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo............ ..........
there is not as much of me (to love) as their once was. The important part of this, is that I am no longer worrying about my weight *yo-yoing*. I now know how to get it off & keep it off....an important life style change for me. Although I won't go so far
as to say I am a vegaterian (I am not) I do not consume nearly the red meat as I used to. I admit I love seafood & occasionally find a good steak & potatoes a treat, but not a steady diet. I do love to bar-b-que....and will get into the kitchen occasionally.....as long as you can hit the hamper.
I believe that housework is a TEAM EFFORT.

I was in a 19 year 8 month (yes, I said 19+) year relationship that I believed was one thing.......
& recently discovered everything I believed in
was just an illusion. 'Nuf said.
So after nearly 20 years, I am on my own.
I consider myself very lucky as I have good, caring supportive friends I value & I try to be the same.
This time the 3 kids are adults....with busy, productive careers. It makes be proud, but it also
means Mom has to make a life for herself.
I just moved to a new place which is very nice.
I am SOOO grateful for my friends who have helped me
& also anxious to meet new friends and have experiences that will enrich my NEW life.

brain he gave us -- & he spends a good deal of
every day laughing at his invention & our uses for it.

They are paralized with fear --
fear of the unknown.
They are caught in limbo --
not able to recapture the past,
& not able to move into the future.
They are *stuck* in *their familiar* reality.
Sad-to-say that they allow their fears,
to get in the way of
"what could be or what could have been..."
They will live -- and they will die........
and they will wonder "what might have been."
I hope I am not one of them.

I was employed as a nurse. They are now productive
adults and have their own lives.

I have never smoked & as a nurse, I am well-acquainted with the many health risks including second-hand smoke & excessive alchol consumption.
