Hi,
I've been a widow for a year now, and I've adjusted to living alone better than I would have expected. Still, I miss male companionship. I miss holding hands and snuggling with someone I trust completely.
I'm looking for a friend with whom to go to dinner (and for whom to cook dinner at times), attend concerts, plays, movies, take long walks, or just sit and talk. I would expect to pay my own way, but in a way that would not embarrass my companion. I could be content with friendship, but if it should develop into more than that, so be it.
My children and grandchildren are my special joy, and my church is also important to me. I'm a "people" person - I have lots of friends and know most of my neighbors.
I enjoy bike riding, hiking, singing, reading, listening to audio-books, working in my yard, playing computer games, doing jigsaw puzzles, working on banners for church. My husband was not interested in dancing so that was not a part of our life together, but I've had enough lessons to get me started.
I have a bad attitude about smoking (my husband died of lung cancer, although he never smoked), and I wouldn't be interested in bungee jumping, sky-diving, or riding motorcycles (does that make me a wimp?).
My Ideal Person:
My ideal person would share some of my interests, and not object to my pursuit of those he didn't share. He'd be kind, thoughtful, funny, encouraging, mostly positive, but sometimes serious.
He needn't be handsome, but I would hope he would make an effort to please. He should at least try to stay in reasonably good shape, although some health issues wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker. Since I'm far from perfect myself, I don't expect him to be so either.
He must be the type of person who respects the rights of others, and can overlook minor disagreements.
Hopefully he likes to laugh, and can find joy in little things. He cares for his family and friends and is dependable and loyal.
