I have been divorced 6 yrs after a 16 yr marriage. I have dealt with the garbage that comes from such a huge life altering experience. My focus can change since my 16 year old is becoming more independent every day. Now I can spend some time on myself and my relationships.
I grew up in a small southern town, earned a BS in accounting and have lived in the big city. Now I am in a rural community and live on a horse farm. I help take care of the horses and ride almost every day. I enjoy being out of the rat race but I do have the best of both worlds because I live close to the city. I like staying home most of the time but occasionally I enjoy eating out and other activities with my family and friends. Enjoying who I am with is more important than what I am doing.
I like to travel although I have not done too much lately. I grew up in a large family that traveled to most of the US, especially Wyoming and the mountains, and a little of Canada, Mexico and Europe. Most of my traveling was done in a van with 6 other people and I loved it! Those “blue highways” trips are still my favorites and that includes the adult trips with all the amenities.
I enjoy riding and caring for horses, spending time with friends and family, traveling, learning knew things, and working on projects including home repairs (born out of necessity). Things I have enjoyed in the past but am not currently involved in: golfing, camping, hiking, sailing, snorkeling and fishing. I like to try new activities; however, I have no interest in skydiving (too high) or diving (too low) and my feet are attached firmly to the ground!
My Ideal Person:
First and foremost I would like to find a friend. It takes time to develop a friendship and I would like someone who: isn’t in a rush; is even-keeled but is not afraid to show his feelings; can be lighthearted and loves to laugh; doesn’t have to spend every minute together but enjoys being together better than anything else; knows that its okay if we don’t like all the same things; is comfortable with silences as well as the good conversations (Quiet is good too).
I say this as if I am looking for a long-term relationship right now. I have to take it one step at a time spending a good deal of time on each step. For now, I would just like to communicate with someone who is somewhat of the same mind as me. What’s the hurry?
