I'm a pretty quiet person. I like a quiet home. I rarely have the TV or radio on. I watch recorded programs so I can skip the ads. I love good classical music, but also like soft rock, Beatles, Chicago. I have two roommates - Jessy and Tasha. Jessy is an almost 13-y-o yellow lab and Tasha is a 2.5 -y-o Australian Shepherd. They are great companions and we walk on a river trail almost every day. I worked in publishing for 9 years and as a hobby, have my own small publishing business. I love to sing - was a member of an Oratorio for 7 years, and now sing in a church choir. I am not a member of the church, I go to sing. I meditate, but don't have a regular practice. I'm also a sporadic artist, and I write poetry and short stories - on occasion. I love to sit with a friend or friends and talk about things that matter. I can be a really good cook, but I have also created some disasters. (No one died.) I've been making an effort to live without criticism or judgement (of myself, quite often). It would be really wonderful to find an honest someone to share the "joie de vivre."
My accomplishments and successes in life are not measured by awards or ribbons and medals. The biggest, and ongoing, work of my life is having the courage to let go of beliefs that were handed down to me; beliefs and mores that have been imposed by society and religion - to stand in a place of unknowing, and search my heart and soul for my truth and my knowing.
My Ideal Person:
I would like to meet someone who is a little bit taller than I; who takes pride in his appearance; who is gentle and wise and funny - someone who won't let me take myself too seriously. I would like someone who can dance - a little, nothing fancy. I think it would be great if each of us thought of the other as a wonderful gift - as though life saved the best for last.
