74 year old Woman in Portland, Oregon, United States Looking For: Men for friendship or a serious relationship

Profile for PerhapsToday
I'm just an ordinary woman exploring an extraordinary universe. My search is for an unusual man who is as happy and enthusiastic as I about experiencing all the ordinary and not so ordinary things the world has to offer. Curiosity is my guiding force, governing whatever I am doing, whether it is reading, traveling, or meeting new people.

I've a very decent education, love to read, enjoy theatre and the arts, feel myself under traveled and regret it, but fortunate enough to have enjoyed a happy and exciting life and creative career that has kept me on the move and working with fascinating people and friends. My traveling has been primarily confined to Mexico and Central America and I hope to expand the geographical boundaries including the U.S. I love large bodies of water, picnics, laughter, holding hands, sunsets and sunrises, good wine, old and new friends, boats and surprises.

I am affectionate in the right circumstances, amused and amusing when confronted with the absurd, liberal, non-judgmental, and a constant friend. When left to my own devices, I am able to amuse myself quite well, but the company of a congenial gentleman is much preferred.

I have lived on the East and West Coasts in a number of fascinating places and moved to Portland from San Francisco about a year and a half ago. I have been something of a nomad and tend to find myself at home in nearly any setting. At the moment I prefer living in a metropolitan area, but I am also fond of the country and have a small cottage in a historic small town near Roseburg. In Portland I remain alert for signals, testing which way the wind is blowing. I take special note of signs indicating that I am on the verge of encountering people, places and things I have missed in the past 100 years.

By trade I identify as a writer/editor/researcher. I don't object to TV, but neither do I watch it much and I don't have a favorite program. Oops! Take that back and insert Jon Stewart. Actually, with the right companion I am willing to watch and enjoy just about anything but football and gratuitous violence.

As for the "sporty" side of life, I've "done" all the sports one is supposed to do growing up. Summing up on physical activities: I do and I don't, depending on the mood and the company. Until a few years ago I had a rather heavy schedule of workouts and tennis but this was drastically curtailed when I became a long-distance caregiver with a daunting schedule that pretty well limited my activities. I haven't nearly regained that level of activity but am thinking about acquiring a bike since Portland is so bike friendly. Unlike my life before Portland, I am now free as a breeze, looking for someone who might share my interests and be open to a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, dinner or whatever would provide the opportunity for friendly conversation and getting acquainted.

My relationship with food is quite simple. I will eat practically anything, of any ethnicity, in any setting, indoors or out, aboard any form of transportation, at any depth or altitude, in any kind of weather, formal or informal. sitting or standing. I hope that covers everything. I love good food and have written about it from time to time. I enjoy cooking a few tried and true recipes as well as experimenting occasionally, indoors or out. Even more fun is to have someone cook for me, or to prepare a feast together.

My Ideal Person:
I would enjoy meeting someone who knows that life isn't a rehearsal. You would know that the mind as well as the world is a place for exploration, and you are eager to explore both. You are a man who knows that adventure is found in many places besides the jungle. You will understand history and its implications, whether it is world history or personal history. You are a companion who is intelligent educated, conversant, sophisticated in the best sense of the word, and in all ways human. You are relatively laid back and open minded. I recently read that time and distance were the first criterea for most men looking for women. I would like to know that if I took your fancy, you would have a better grasp of time and space. There are times when time and distance can be overcome so I hope to meet someone who knows that thirty miles is not the end of the universe nor that thirty minutes a finite measurement of time.
