I'm a divorced mother of two young women, one a doctoral candidate in history, the other a city government employee. We are very close. I have many friends, male and female, but no man for close companionship, and I miss that deeply.I will be working full-time for at least another year or two, but then will retire to write (novel in progress), maybe do some freelance graphics, garden, look for community work and an outlet for my singing, which I did for many years in New York and Boston. Love to sail but haven't had a boat in years. Love classical music as well as rock and Broadway (Sondheim Gershwin, Rogers & Hart). I imagine I sound rather serious, but really I laugh a lot, love life, and prize the pratfalls and lovely mistakes we all make. I own my own cottage, but I am looking for an alternative home that will allow me to have more than two people at a time for dinner.
I love to cook and am occasionally good at it. I like order but hate to clean, so there's a constant battle within. I read way more than I clean.
My Ideal Person:
Would like to meet someone who is easygoing and funny (quiet humor is especially appealing) and unafraid of emotional attachment. Must be comfortable with children, for even though mine don't live at home any longer, I hope to have grandchildren, and I'm mistrustful of folks who don't appreciate the wonder and innocence and truth-telling in small people. Would love to meet a musician--we'd be on firm ground for sure: reverence for sound and rhythm. Would love, too, to meet a writer who might share my devotion to language, my interest in translating and recording experience. I'm looking for someone in good health who appreciates exercise without being fanatical about it.
