57 year old Woman in San Jose, California, United States Looking For: Men for friendship or a serious relationship

Profile for vmalady
I am not on the make nor, am I looking for an MRS title. I am, however, interested in building friendships and, allow any or everything else to develop organically.

A pinch of Scots; a smidgen Irish; half Hungarian; a dash of melting pot and, about as white as they come (complexion that is). I like to think I care for all people and, am sincerely curious about cultures different from mine.

I'm a veracious reader as in more than one at a time plus a couple of magazines a month, but never a newspaper. Audio recordings of the classics, best sellers, non-fiction and biographies for chores and driving. For fun, give me a historically accurate slut novel. Whatever ... wherever ... hell, give me a cereal box!

Though more focused on survival and boys in high school, found a love of learning collecting my GI bill. Received my AA in Liberal Arts and, am a couple semesters shy of a BA. Thought I’d be the first in the family, but as of June 1, the honor goes to the kid sister I raised. I’m so very proud!

I yearn to travel, Scotland, Hungary, the far east, Mexico, hell, Catalina is further than I’ve ever been. Would hope to, at least, make it beyond the US borders.

I've been an amateur dancer most of my life and, am anxious for the word to define me once again. Today, I dance in the privacy of my living room, tho’ I’ve been known to grace my fair share of tabletops.

For fun ... anything creative. I’ve always got a dozen projects going. Call me crafty, mostly needlework of some kind ... can’t just sit still ... need to keep my hands busy My vegetable garden seems to get bigger every year and, I journal to satisfy my fantasy of writing the great American novel. I enjoy TV, DVDs, movies, theater and, dance of any kind ... ballet to ballroom. However, friends and family are the center of my universe. Any sentence that includes “do and/or fun” usually includes my fabulous “fr-amily,” i.e., the family you’re born with and the one built of lifelong friends.

Today, I’m a kept woman ... allowing me the freedom to pursue that which I’ve never had time for ... loving every minute of it. I did, however, spend 25+ years as a working girl, woman and mom. My wide and varied career started in the Air Force and, ended as a Mary Kay Sales Director. Medical secretary to executive legal assistant and then, legal computer consultant. Health issues ended my career ... great doctors gave back my life.

My perfect day would include: rain; a fireplace and, a good book. Only made better if someone is likewise engaged and entwined at the opposite end of the couch. Good food, good company and, laughter. Mostly, I love the frequent time spent with my very irrelevant “framily.” The door is always open yet, entree demands a thick skin, brains, a very quick wit and, the ability to take a joke!

Once upon a time, our eyes would meet across a crowded room. However, once upon a time, I was confident in my abilities to initiate, attract and engage at will. I was empowered with an innate intuition, well-honed perception and, quick judgment ... a trinity of guidance and safety ... gifts I trusted explicitly. I was, most often, fearless in the pursuits of new knowledge, fresh experiences and, audacious adventure. Once upon a time, I would run full-tilt boogie into “life” with the abandon of a base jumper from atop Kilimanjaro.

I said all that to be able to say: I can easily tell you who I was. The operative word “was” ... i.e., a couple of decades ago. I’m sure I still possess all of those characteristics,‘tho dry docked for 25+ years. However, I never expected to resurrect those skills ... much less attempt to channel them into a blind date in cyberspace.

After the world tilts on its axis, you find your bearings and, write a new chapter. And so, I join this crazy internet journey. What a challenge. I feel “totally” out of my element, not to mention out of practice. Neither of which is a comfort zone for this control freak. The only tantamount experience ... my long ago, yet copious Viet Nam Era correspondence ... I did write a lot of letters!

Today, I am writing a new chapter for my life story. I choose to embrace all the possibilities and, all the opportunities that cross my path. I want to be a sponge, try new things; meet new people; and, go new places. I’ve always tried to be better, grow, fix it, change it, become the best me I can be. However, I have no desire to "take care of ... fix ... or change" you! My son is grown; long term relationship is history. I want to, once again, enjoy the company of men; make new friends and, a little romance wouldn’t hurt.

I’m sensitive, tolerant and accepting. Funny, strong, witty, intelligent and very smart (no redundancy ... intelligent and smart are not always the same). I am a woman who can truly offer unconditional love, but I demand total honesty in return. I’ve lived a life of challenges and, am still standing. I am an optimist who loves the journey, even if it's hard. I’m looking for my next great adventure ... Could It Be YOU?

My Ideal Person:
Looking for a Boy Scout!

Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient (to the rule of law ... not me), cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.

A man that understands true friendship is the basis for any relationship other than family

I choose real, honest, “look you in the eyes” communication. I take honesty very seriously ... If you choose to try it, you'd better be good ... 'cause it only takes once and, if I stumble, (i.e., that intuition I spoke of earlier) onto truth ... there is no, NO, absolutely NO forgivness. There may be reasons for almost any behavior ... but, not dishonesty.

I have no concern as to who you were or what you may have done (with a few exceptions) ... it is who you choose to be today. I believe we all have the ability to re-frame our world. However, all cards on the table. No one has the right to draw another into unknown territory. I want to be safe and, I expect you do too.
