Hi! I'm comfortable most places, from walking my in the park behind my house, to standing alone on a train platform at 1am in Austria. The things I love in life are a long list, topped by my family, the students I work with, travel (although I did get lost that time in Romania!!), movies (personal favorite currently is Crash), hiking/walking, reading good fiction, nonfiction, and the Style section of the Washington Post. I also readily admit to being a Law & Order and TAB (the diet cola from the 60s? It still exists) junkie, verging on cranky if I don't solve the Sunday crossword puzzle, and adoring my Bichon Frise. I find great satisfaction in day trips and evening expeditions of all kinds -- museums, hiking, tubing, cities, country, ethnic restaurants, Irish bars. We are blessed in the DC area.
My "fan club" says I'm patient and giving, but the way I see it is that I appreciate being with people; I gravitate toward and the in all of us -- especially the slightly silly joy of everyday events and the beauty of ordinary objects. I mean, who could have predicted a zillion baby frogs on the trail at the precise moment I took my niece for a hike? And where can you find more inspiring art than in peonies in a cut glass bowl?
So, I have a lot of good things are going -- I love being a professor, enjoy hobbies, home, and people. In fact, my 25-year-old and I saw the ROLLING STONES in October!!
My Ideal Person
What else could anyone want? First, companionship and friendship, growing into something important for both of us. At the age we're at, that doesn't necessarily mean what it did at 20. But: Someone to share all the parts -- mind, body and soul. For me that means someone with an active mind and clear sense of humor, who is curious and likes to have great conversations, unique adventures, or just relax, to work on a project or take a nap (or more!) together ... someone who loves people but more specifically, will love me -- mind, body, and soul. Could it be you?
