87 year old Man in Ellicott City, Maryland, United States Looking For: female

Profile for BronxboyMB
I'm a 69 year old separated man with a very young and active mind. After 30 years of marriage, life has given me a second chance to reinvent and improve upon myself. I believe I'm more sensitive and emotional than most men, but that may be just my own perception. Sports do not interest me therefore I never spend Sunday afternoons or Monday nights looking at football games. I do have some interest, every four years, in the summer Olympics. I'm emotionally strong and can handle adversity, although not without tears, having lost my 38 year old five years ago. I still share my life with my other and her husband and as well as my -in-law and granddaughter. I'm probably preaching to the choir, but teenagers are some very strange people. My sister lives in South Carolina and I don't get to see her as often as I'd like but free internet long distance helps. I was born in The Bronx, New York and spent my first 17 years there. I went to Stuyvesant HIgh School and then to West Virginia Wesleyan College earning a B.S. in Biology. I retired on April Fool's Day, 1997 after a 20 year career in Environmental Compliance Management having worked for the Howard County Health Department, the Maryland Department of the Environment, Martin Marietta, and the University of Maryland at College Park. Retirement has been good to me except for the weight I have added. I'm ashamed to say that now clothing sales people refer my 5'7" frame to the "Portly" section. I"m a second generation non-practicing Jewish-American of Austrian, Romanian, and Polish descent. I'm probably an agnostic but believe religion is a personal choice which should be respected. I've always been an amateur photographer and computer nut and I use my digital SLR whenever I can. I hope I have an artistic side as I have worked on the potting wheel for years and have recently signed up for some classes in both pottery and stained glass through the local community college. Classical music is another love of mine. I like "big" symphonies, concertos, and most works from the repertoire. I'm a newcomer to opera having started to listen to arias and duets fairly recently. I love to travel and do not care for cruises although the last cruise I took was a Lindblad small ship cruise to the Sea of Cortez where I petted a whale. I also cruised the Inside Passage from Vancouver to Alaska and loved the glaciers and the whales, seals, dolphins and orcas, but was really disappointed in the port stops where stores were loaded with "souvenirs" from China and Japan. I've been to Australia, New Zealand, China, Bangkok, Hong Kong. The Seychelles (an archipelago in the middle of the Indian Ocean), Kenya, Tanzania, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland. Italy, San Marino, France, The Netherlands, Peru, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico and most of our States. This is not a list to brag or impress. I've been very fortunate and lucky in having the opportunity to see some of the rest of the world and its citizens. What do I consider relaxing? I'm a High Definition TV lover and watch my 52" MItsubishi DLP set frequently. I like 24, The Sopranos, Huff, Crossing Jordan, The CSI series, Law & Order series, Nova, The L Word, Animal Planet and late night movies on HBO, Showtime or Cinemax. I read a lot, mostly detective mystery fiction. I like to eat out. . .anything Chinese, French, Continental, Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese and some Korean.. I love sushi and sashimi, Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine, but not so hot with Thai. When not out on a date I cook at home making anything that strikes my fancy from a meatloaf to a Chinese dish. Cooking for one means I don't often run the dishwasher. I'm also a crossword puzzle addict. I do the daily New York Times and Sunpapers Puzzles and both Sunday puzzles in ink. Confession. . . it's erasable ink. I never said I was perfect, and believe me I'm not. That's me. I hope you find me interesting enough to contact me.

My Ideal Person

I'd like to believe the person I'm looking for is also reinventing herself by being open to new experiences and meeting new people. . . someone who will risk making contact. I'm looking for friendship, compatibility, some flirting and romance also, but I place a lot of importance in the formation of long term friendship. I've only been separated 7 months after 30 years of marriage and quite frankly at my age I do not know at this time if I would marry again. It's certainly too early in my reinvention process to think of marriage at this time. If you have similar thought I would love to hear from you.

What are your favorite television shows?: Sopranos, 24, CSI series, Huff, Crossing Jordan, The L Word, Nova, Animal Planet

Favorite films: Usual Suspects, Gone With the Wind, Anything with Robert MItchum
