Years ago I thought that by the age I am now I would have settled most of life’s issues. Instead, everything is still “in play” — finding love, learning to work at art, trying to find a spirituality, growing closer to friends and family. My life is changing rapidly.
I have accumulated some accomplishments — co-authored books with a dear friend, done artwork and photography, sung in the choir, undergone some years of therapy, logged time at art school and university. Some good memories, some regrets. My life here and now is by far the most enjoyable time I’ve had.
In the meantime I try to meditate and get connected to my little share of the power in the Universe; am part of several small communities of friends; maintain health and energy with sufficient exercise and good food. I work in clay seriously, although I have not exhibited or sold anything yet. I listen to audio book mysteries, fantasies, and lots of music. I’ve been living without TV for a while and only watch when I go to the gym for exercise. I missed all the political attack ads – hurray.
More clues to what I am about: current favorite musical pieces are – Ben Harper, “I Believe in a Better Way”, Schubert, “The Erlking”, Groucho Marx, “Lydia the Tattooed Lady,” and a young cello quartet called Cellofourte.
My Ideal Person:
I long for a companion to share thoughts, feelings, and a bed. I am willing to love and asking to be loved. I know loving is difficult and risky, but I believe it can happen – at any age.
The man I have in mind is someone who is willing to listen to my ideas and fantasies with understanding, not necessarily agreement. He can share his own ideas and take my responses seriously. People are mysterious to me and I have to pay close attention when I want to get close to someone.
