...I had a 3 month follow-up with a cardiologist....He was neat...I actually asked him something that had been on my mind...I exsplained to him that I realized now that this was just a common occurence that he dealt with daily...but...that it was a little "uncommen" for me....

...He simply replied..."I know, Jon...and you are right...I do this daily...the best answer I have for you is what my wife tells me...

and then he said..."She tells me that I do it every day but that I am going to be pissed off when they take mine out"...

...Thanks to all the nice things that you all said when I was in my throes of heart surgery ...it is neat to see what you said...

...Thanks to Dr Nisco for taking my heart in his hands and building me a brand new motor...the aspect of it still amazes me...someone having my heart in his hands literally...

...Thanks to Dr Kavanaugh the cardiologist who monitored my care...

...I have a heart shaped pillow somewhere that they gave me...so I started having all them sign their signatures...from Dr's to nurses to wheel chair aides...they were all amazing...

...But...most of all...thanks to this wonderful person....Sing to My Soul....who took care of my recuperation for several weeks and my pets...

...I had a wonderful reason to give Thanks this year...

...when i was a kid gary my Dad used to laugh about a lot of things...including why anyone would buy a vehicle with an automatic transmission or power steering...he told us kids that "God gave us muscles to use"...(although he was not particularly a very religious man)...

...finally once the best deal he could find when needed stillwater was a used car from avis...(my older onery sister had totalled the last one while learning to drive)...

...this car had an automatic transmission, power steering...a radio that actually worked...and an air conditioner stillwater...

...the next dang thing we knew was that there was an air conditioner in the living room...right by his chair...

...I have been wondering what to do with my life since my recent heart surgery...has been pretty boring...so--last night I was talking with Mich96--and he and I decided that we were going to make a rep for ourselves...gonna go steal a motorhome and start robbing banks and travelling...Mich assured me that they would not shoot a couple of old coots like us...

...Mich says he has a BB gun somewhere, and I know I have my son's marshmallow gun somewhere...

...MissionControl decided she is gonna come along and be our doll/moll...now we just need somebody who has a super soaker squirt gun to ride shotgun...it cannot be anybody who gets so excited she pees in her panties in the motorhome...nor anyone who would jump up and down yelling "Oh boy oh boy oh boy this is fun"!...

...So far the plan is to walk into banks and yell "Put your hands up and give us the money or I will take off my shirt and show you my scar"...

...Mich96 says he has some ideas about how he and MissionControl could distract the cops too

...Any ideas that would contribute to our great success would be appreciated...

...Once I went back to Arkansas to care for my folks...my Dad decided to go into town and he wanted to introduce me to (?) some new cronies he had coffee with usually...so, we went to the restaurant--bought a paper...and I held the door open for him...but--he hesitated and was looking through the window...

? I finally said "Dad are you coming or not?"...and he replied...

..".no Son--there is only so and so and so in so in there...and they always just talk about their own problems and don't listen to mine"...

I laughed my ass off at him and let the door to the restaurant close...and he cracked up too...taught me a damn good lesson....he was a hoot--even while he knew he was dying he still taught me lessons about common sense and reasoning and people...I was only about 45 while he was dying at 84...but still, he was still the Dad...still teaching...day by day...

...A few months back I met someone and we spent time together...the next day, we decided to have a certain type dinner at my house and went to the grocery store..

...At the grocery store, she ran around like Batwoman without a cape getting this stuff...while I lagged behind more & more...finally, at the check-out stand I realized I was passing out...she evidentl& another man lowered me...the next thing I remembered was waking up in the ambulance...

...Now she calls me "flip-flop"...I am telling you--".HeY...Do I know how to show a gal an exciting time on the second date, or what ?!?.

...Their sleek lines...how some knife through the water for total speed, how others have volume in the bow to stay dry over drops and waterfalls...

...Some of you know of my passion (ooops--ok, maybe an obsession)...of running whitewater rivers all my life...

...Tis true--a few past girlfriends from my 20's on kinda got a little ticked off when I got a new canoe, raft, or kayak, and had it in the living room for a week or 2...but heck--worked good as furniture...

...Some people have nice artistic pictures hanging on their walls--well, with age now, I have some to hang up there too...but I would rather go sit in the garage and stare at my custom made paddles...

...There is just something about all the memories of rapids, rivers, boats, and life that is totally mesmerizing...

...Boating a whitewater river is kinda like the "River of Life" to me...there is danger, excitement in the rapids...that you negotiate to various degrees of success...then there are the calm spots behind rocks and at waters edge called "Eddies"...(probably named because Eddy didn't find one)...then there are pools of glorious beauty and calmness...then--the excitement starts all over again...

...Lol! I am so fickle, huh ?!?...I love boats...at one point I had to sell 5 canoes...

...They were all different, in special ways...I enjoyed caring for them and rubbing oil in the gunwales each season...

...But most of all, I guess I am just a selfish man...I loved how they made me feel...
