Accepting the insanity about us, and enjoying it.

What is the deal with wedding dresses. TV was pretty boring tonight and I landed on a channel I did not know I had. The show was an hour of women trying on wedding dresses. White wedding dresses.

I know that white is the symbol of virginity, and it is a symbol of the earth at rest.

These women were all excited about gowns they would wear one time, and cost them an arm and a leg.

Someone said it had to do with the fantasy that young women were brought up in, and another said it hasn't changed much in the last 100 years. Something left over from antiquity.

Now I know that several of these women were not virgins, because one came in with her two teenage daughters and two future step daughters.

What is the fastination with wearing a gown to be married in.

For myself, I cannot imagine why guys have to wear formal wear to be married in. Especially formal wear that has been worn several times previously.

Why is it so very important?

We are getting the tail end of TS Hanna, which means much welcome rain. Should be back into sunshine and heat later in the day.
And it looks like Ike is the one to pay us a visit sometime Tuesday evening, give or take.

The week has been uneventful. I have gone to the gym each day, except today because of the rain.
I did a run to the store yesterday to stock up for next week.

And I have enjoyed the wonders of the US Open. The matches have been sensational. Though, and regrettably, there are no more American men left to vie for the US Open title. Disappointing. Though Andy Roddick stook toe to toe with Novak Djokavek. It could have gone either way. Too bad Andy lost.

Serena is still set to play in the semifinal today, so we have hope with her.

The birds are all doing very well. And I am in the peak of health. Feeling as strong as I ever have. I do love this time.

If I were to need to ask a question of you all, it would be: Are you actually seeking a permanent relationship, or are you here simply for the companionship?

I really am looking for a permanent relationship. I want to meet someone who would be willing to share her life with me.

I would already have loved to be with someone here coming this Tuesday to snuggle and listen to the wind howling outside our door. I do love my birds but they do not snuggle well.

There are currently two named Tropical Storms and one tropical depression aiming for Southeastern US. Hanna was a hurricane but slowed again, to confound the experts. What she will do is any ones guess. But the southeastern Bahamas have been inundated for the last couple of days with little relief in sight. And then TS Ike should be showing up in the same area on Sunday. The TD 10 seems to be following the same path.

Okay, we have missed the bullet so far. Only getting a little from Gustav as he went by. But it does not look like our luck will hold out. Something dramatic is going to happen in the next week.

I can feel it in my very bones. Deep down. We will get hit someway.

If Hanna uses the course the experts claim we will get wet on Wednesday or Thursday.

So, everyone in Southeastern Florida, break out your water wings, and swim goggles.

And get a long sharp stick, because as sure as shooting we will have visitors at our back door.

And I am about an hour away from finishing my last course of treatment. The last bottle of medicine is about finished. And I am completely thrilled.
I am listening to the flutist James Galway. Brilliant.
I feel content and delighted to be finally coming home. I miss my birds, and the freedom of not being constantly in bed clothes, and hooked to an IV.
I have a piece of salmon in the freezer just waiting for me to celebrate my getting home.

Been carefully following the events of Gustav and Hanna. And hope everyone living along the Gulf are either in safe places or on their way.

Gustav could just about kill New Orleans. It is going to be on the east side of the storm, the most damaging part. At the very least it will totally screw up the Delta area.

May your God bless you and watch over you.

What would be on my Bucket list Aug 28, 2008 8:17 pm

I know I want to see a completely star filled night once again, far from the city lights.

I want to catch a rainbow trout, and have him for supper.

I want to hold hands with my someone, and walk along the shore at night.

oops my brain just shut off, I will come back and add more tomorrow.

and find myself feeling much better. kind of surprising me.

i feel more alert, and stronger. Well, not in the true sense of the word, but there is a difference tonight.

my perspective is different.

had a chance to view "The Bucket List" with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman has been one of my favorite actors of all times. Simply brillant.

Got a lot from the movie. Thinking about what i want on my Bucket List.(things I want to do before I kick the bucket.

And here I am with my very favorite IV pump.

This means I should be home on Sunday sometime. Oh how happy i will be. Cannot wait to get out of this place.

Did find a copy of George Orwell's "1984". it has been quite awhile since I read it. I am going to take my time with it. Savor it. Read about the insanity that seems to be coming true before our very eyes. Really kind of spooky.

Talk with you all later

Has anyone here ever been to Des Moines Aug 24, 2008 4:59 pm

Was downstairs grabbing a breath of semi fresh air, and met a fellow who was from there. Asked him why he had moved. he really wasn't certain.

I'm going to look for Des Moines online, but hoped maybe someone had been there. The way he described it, it sounded too good to be true.

Been poked and prodded by a couple of doctors and am glad for a quiet rest of the evening. Though I will have a pulmonary guy come by every 4 hours to see if i am breathing okay.
Hope all is going well with the rest of you.
