I might be a bit wrong but... Dec 16, 2007 9:52 am
Mood: annoyed, 449 Views

I thought that the blog area was a place to say a few things that are on our minds, add poems we have written, maybe offer help/advice to those who ask for it...In general just a nice place to read about the things friends have to say...

I find that there is one here that has yet to say a kind word to or about anything others have posted...albeit that is her right but it sure does drag down the mood a notch for a few minutes and make me wish I had not clicked on a blog where she has posted a comment...

Ok...don't jump on me that this area is for all to use and voice our thoughts as that is what I am doing right now and I am not saying others can't...Just sometimes maybe keep unkind words to yourself or think about how the writer might feel about what you have written...

Parental Definitions

Words that you or I would commonly use for one meaning, have a completely different meaning to parents in a family...

AMNESIA: condition that enables a woman who has gone through labor to have sex again.

BOTTLE FEEDING: an opportunity for Daddy to get up at 2 AM too.

DEFENSE: what you'd better have around the yard if you're going to let the children play outside.

DROOLING: how teething babies wash their chins.

DUMB WAITER: one who asks if the kids would care to order dessert.

FAMILY PLANNING: the art of spacing your children the proper distance apart to keep you from falling into financial disaster.

FEEDBACK: the inevitable result when a baby doesn't appreciate the strained carrots.

FULL NAME: what you call your child when you're mad at him.

GRANDPARENTS: the people who think your children are wonderful even though they're sure you're not raising them right.

HEARSAY: what toddlers do when anyone mutters a dirty word.

IMPREGNABLE: a woman whose memory of labor is still vivid.

INDEPENDENT: how we want our children to be as long as they do everything we say.

LOOK OUT!: what it's too late for your child to do by the time you scream it.

OWWW: the first word spoken by children with older siblings.

PRENATAL: when your life was still somewhat your own.

PREPARED CHILDBIRTH: a contradiction in terms.

PUDDLE: a small body of water that draws other small bodies wearing dry shoes.

SHOW OFF: a child who is more talented than yours.

STERILIZE: what you do to your first baby's pacifier by boiling it and to your last baby's pacifier by blowing on it.

STOREROOM: the distance required between the supermarket aisles so that children in shopping carts can't quite reach anything.

TEMPER TANTRUMS: what you should keep to a minimum so as to not upset the children.

THUNDERSTORM: a chance to see how many family members can fit into one bed.

TOP BUNK: where you should never put a child wearing Superman jammies.

TWO-MINUTE WARNING: when the baby's face turns red and she begins to make those familiar grunting noises.

VERBAL: able to whine in words.

WEAKER SEX: the kind you have after the kids have worn you out.

WHODUNIT: none of the kids that live in your house.

WHOOPS: an exclamation that translates roughly into "get a sponge".

Weekly Exercise Program Dec 1, 2007 3:37 pm
Mood: amused, 445 Views

*Exercise Program*

Here is an exercise program for those of us whose wisdom exceeds our ambition. The doctor told me "Physical exercise is good for you." I know that I should do it, but my body is out of shape, so I have worked out this easy daily program I can do anywhere. If I can do it, you can do this, too.

Monday:
Beat around the bush.
Jump to conclusions.
Climb the walls.
Wade through paperwork.

Tuesday:
Drag my heels.
Push my luck.
Make mountains out of molehills.
Hit the nail on the head.

Wednesday:
Bend over backwards.
Jump on the bandwagon.
Balance the books.
Run around in circles.

Thursday:
Toot my own horn.
Climb the ladder of success.
Pull out the stops.
Add fuel to the fire.

Friday:
Open a can of worms.
Put my foot in my mouth.
Start the ball rolling.
Go over the edge.

Saturday:
Pick up the pieces.

Your smile for today
*************************

God is Watching

Children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic school for lunch.

At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, "Take only one, God is watching."

At the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

Moving through the line a boy wrote another note to leave by the cookies, "Take all you want, God is watching the apples."

Always with you May 11, 2007 6:22 am

Your Mother is always with you

She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the Street, she's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore.

She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well.

She's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow.
She is Christmas morning.

Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows every emotion......Happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow...and all the while, hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life.

She's the place you came from, your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space...not even death!

After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident.
***************************

(Don't know if the above is truth but it makes a nice lead in for the following--Marie)

***************************

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S : Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what friction locks are for.

P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny. (I love this one!)
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.

And the best one for last..................

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget

Hopefully my last blog on this issue... May 8, 2007 4:56 pm

A blog written about illegal aliens is changed in tone by the comments of people who want to make many things into a race issue...

The race issue is a problem that is and will probably always be so in this country but that does not change the fact that illegal aliens flooding into this country will continue to be a growing issue and may in fact one day overtake the race issue...

If you feel you are not being heard about the race issue, feel free to write a blog on that issue...but, trust me, your feelings are already well know by many that use this site...

Changing a question from illegal aliens into a race issue does not change the meaning of issue differences...

Put away (I did not say forget the past) the things of the past and work to make the present better for all living legally in this great United States of America...Until this happens there will never be peace within the borders of this country...

Re: Who does America (USA) belong to? May 7, 2007 9:02 pm

(My comments are given on only some points in her blog...

I do not know how long your family has been in this country...I can say that my family roots go back to the Native American Indians and the descendent's of those who came from other countries...so, I feel I have as much right if not more to speak what I feel in my heart...

It is not a question of those first people who came to this country...My ancestors were the ones that were here to welcome and share what they had with those newcomers to their land...those new people became citizens thru working, paying and praying for what they had...I am in no way saying that it was right what happened to the American Indians...to be honest, they were the most ill-treated people born in this land...(the key word is born in this land as far as rights...)

There is acceptance for all colors within the borders of this great land...be it native born or legal immigrants as hopefully it will always be so...if you are black then you are as free as the whites, if you are brown you are as free as the blacks and the whites, if you olive skinned then you are as free as the black, whites and brown skinned, if you are red, then you are as free as the whites, blacks, brown skinned and the olive skinned, as long as you swear to support the laws and respect the flag of this United States of America...

Another point regarding the poor and needy in this country...there are those in this country who can't get decent medical care and yet, the illegals are given medical care for little or nothing...and don't tell me that decent care is available if you just look for it as I have a daughter that has no job due to medical problems, she can't work and has so far not found a doctor that will accept state funded Medicade Insurance for a painful part of her medical problems...

The politicians of this land do not do enough to solve this countries problems...It does not matter if they are Democrats or Republicans as they all sit in the same building...both parties are equally to blame in letting this continue...I guess it also comes down to the fact that as long as they can stay in office they are ok...they will draw their retirements along with their spouses (who have not been elected into office) so they are getting paid for a free retirement paid for by the American people... (paid for by the citizens and not themselves)...(They should be part of the Social Security system and not their own private retirement plan) but then, that is another story...

I am sorry to take up so much space with this blog but I think that anyone that opens the door to question regarding the problems now facing this country should expect the answers given already by others and myself...

Guess the door is now open for comments from those who do not agree...

Take care of yourselves...

Short note about Paris/Venus May 6, 2007 4:47 pm
Mood: calm, 775 Views

I talked with Paris this afternoon and she is doing ok...just tired so much of the time...She does not know if they will do the next treatment tomorrow (Monday or on Tuesday)....I asked about when she should know results of the last chemo she had and the results should be in this coming Friday...She is hoping to go home within a couple of weeks and will probably go with home care at that time instead of going to hospice care...

Paris thanks you all so much for the prayers and wants you to also remember those other friends that are going through personal and physical problems right now...there are many that just do not want to ask for public prayers so Paris ask that we all pray for our friends...

Dallas, she did ask about your brother and I told her the latest that I remember from your blog....

NevadaOakie, she also asked the latest about you and I told her what I could from the information in blogs and chat room discussion...both of you are in her prayers...

Zippygirl...I did give her your message and she thanks you for what you said...

Paris sends you all her love and thanks you so much for your continued prayers for her... OH, and by the way, the baby did drop but just has not come out yet so her tummy is still swollen...lol

She was ready for a nap so I did not talk with her to long....

Huggs,
Marie
