I went dancing last night

In the midst of a torrential rain my two girlfriends and I went forth into the night to the dance studio where I took my first two lessons to go to the dance social.
The first half hour there is a dance lesson which goes over three latin dances, the last being the salsa. There must have been 50 plus people lined up side to side in a relatively small space practicing but there was also great enthusiasm and lots of smiles in the process.
Most of the people where young but I stuck in there and learned what I needed to learn. After the lesson I danced a couple of dances and knew I needed more lessons. Some of the people looked like they were from Dancing with the Stars. It was wonderful to watch how it should be done. But maybe with perseverance I can get there too. 99% of the people were Latin the passion of Salsa is there automatically. I do need a dance partner if I am going to continue. But I must mention I am not a night person so it would be a big stretch to go out in the evening. For now, I still like my 5:00 pm lesson on Saturday.

As I posted awhile back I took two salsa dance classes and I am now looking for a dance partner. Nursesusan did a bold thing and posted a one liner one craigslist asking for just that. And do you know I received 6 responses. One of which I think maybe a match. We have not meet yet but exchanged pictures. He's 20 years younger. Do you think that will be a problem? Keep in mind I am just interested in dancing.

Blind Side, What a Great Movie

This weekend I saw the Blind Side with Sandra Bullock. Wow, what a film. Nursesusan's review:
A homeless youth finds his place with a generous woman and her family, and discovers a future he never thought possible. Wonderful, is the best way to describe what this film is. The production team brought their A game to this drama. Direction and cinematography really grabbed my attention, especially during the football games. All actors delivered believable performances, with Sandra Bullock and Quinton Aaron shining above the others. The story is based on the real life events of, now rookie offensive tackle, Michael Oher, whose life is changed by interior designer and mother Leigh Anne Touhy. The writers did a really good job of delivering their story and kept great flow throughout. I felt inspired by the film as I'm sure you'll share after experiencing the lives of this unique family.
It was a four tissue film, and I didn't have any tissues with me.

Trying to book a cruise for Valentines Day

Yesterday I was on the phone to Carnival in hopes on booking a cruise in February. My daughter wants to invite her Sunday School Class so we have to keep the costs low and our port of departure needs to be within driving distance. This makes our options relatively few. But I'm going to keep on trying until we finally make a decision.
We have been waiting on two other couples who were leaving from Miami and we were hoping to join them but they have been procrastinating. I really get irritated at times with procrastinators especially when I want to be sure I am doing something. Well my daughter sent out two options to her friends and hopefully by next week we will know where we are going and when.
What are your feelings on procrastination?

Up at 4:00 am and ready to serve

This morning Alexandra and I left the house by 5:35 in order to serve breakfast at the Charlotte Rescue Mission. It has been a family tradition for many years that we serve before serving ourselves. It truly puts in our hearts the season and the reason we celebrate thanksgiving.
As I served I asked many of the men to share with me one thanksgiving blessing and nine out of ten say I woke up today and I'm breathing. It's funny when I give thanks that it usually not one of the things I am thankful for yet it is so basic to be thankful for one more day to be alive. So, with that I wish everyone on this site a blessing of gratitude and thanksgiving that we all have this special day ahead of us.

My daughter Alexandra arrived at 12:30 this morning. I am looking forward to spending the holidays with her. We are planning to play tennis this morning and finish painting the bathrooms that lovely shade of mocha java. I should take a picture and show you just how warm the color is. I want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with blessings and gratitude for what we do have.

What are you all doing for Thanksgiving. It is almost here and I'm feeling bittersweet. There is so much to be grateful for. As one saying goes, count your blessings one by one.
On the other hand this is the first holiday season without Jan and it feels very sad at times. I feel as if emotionally I am running over hurdles.

Yesterday I went to one of my favorite places the Gallery Restaurant here in Charlotte. My friends put flowers and a lovely ballon on the table for me. But the ballon had a bright yellow clip which my friend clipped to my jacket. Here is the ballon. I can't seem to upload my ballon picture. Sorry about that!

Does anyone want to help me do some research that may benefit needy women around the world. I am thinking about creating a website that is a marketplace for fair trade items. You can google fair trade federation and get an idea of who is doing what. But what I need is someone to go through each site and pick out ten great products that might sell well in the US and European marketplace. So, if there is anyone who has some free time and enjoys reseach here is your chance. There is also a creative site called world of good and etsy that showcases some marvelous items.

Birthday Roses from Yesterday

I received these beautiful roses from my son on behalf of their father which I thought was a lovely gesture. What a wonderful birthday I had yesterday. It started with my daughter being here when I woke up. We had breakfast together and painted a bathroom a lovely shade of java mocha. Then followed by lunch at Dean and Delucca which is one of my favorite places.
When we returned these roses awaited me on my steps. First my daughter would not tell me who actually sent them but at dinner at PF Changs my son spilled the beans.
