My gold membership was up this month, so I guess I am here as a freebie as of now, so I question myself if I should spend the $139.00 for a year and half again??? Thinking back of what has come down the pike, I am not so sure....I made some really good friends, but I have them on my home e-mail so I would not loose contact with them, some of the guys and girls I would like to continue to correspond with, and some...well...never mind...

MY NEPHEW'S WEDDING

My nephew got married this weekend, a very lovely affair, I can truly say that this old girl was about as tired as you can get...Now I can say a lot about the groom, but he has great taste, he married a lovely girl that is as smart as he is (I think more) both have a MD-PHD so DR,DR married DR,DR It was attended by their colleges so I knew if I passed out there would be a DR in house....I did not say common sense came with all those titles, street smart is not one of their attributes. Now my friends, we have known that the actual day would come, but it did not seam for that to sink in, they were definitely not concerned about planning the event, there were thirty guests coming from Denmark, just as many from the Mid West, and about one hundred friends and colleges from here...So four days before the event they finely agreed that maybe we should go shopping since the event was going to be at his mothers house. Thanks to the local catering rental we were able to put up a tent in the back yard and rent all the plates and glasses, we got a polka band (yes polka!!) My poor servers worked their little fingers off for three days, and presto, we had appetizers, soup, salad and the main dish we called a Paella restaurant that came and made it right then and there (I have used them before for other events) and the cake came from the local Bakery, they got married in the park in Coronado by a friend that had a license through mail...I could see that my assistant had dark circles under her eyes, I looked ten years older and I am not quite sure if any of my people will show up tomorrow... Being a caterer and having a family that is getting married is not heaven send (at least not for the caterer) But it turned out wonderful, everybody had a great time, as I departed from the party I told them they better stay married because I am never doing this again.

One of our favorites have been banned, our Rosie, funny, always controversial and pushing the envelope to the limit, but we loved her for her humor and insight...I had sworn to myself that I would only write non controversial and non political or religious blogs, I would be nice and kind to all....until this evening...filipiniana (no pic) aka tranqfull, wrote a blog "the rose garden is dead ...finely" ...I don't know what makes members be so unhappy in their own skin that they feel necessary to complain and have members banned, I looked into her profile (tranqfull) and please let me write it for you...
Are you lonely like me? Then let me love you.Together we could be happy. Together we could never be lonely again.....
Here is how I see it Tranqfull, as long as you complain about other members and their freedom to write their opinion as they see it, may they be single men, woman or couples, as long as you do not tolerate other people ideas and views you will stay lonely for a very long time....

PARTY MOOD IN LA JOLLA

The lost bovine has found his way home, those little gremlins placed it back on on it's designated spot, the word has it that it was very dirty with a few scratches, tired but in good spirits ...We do have another concern, there is a small piece of beach that is called the Children's Pool, seals have found their way there for many years, we are so lucky to be able to see the seals with their pups within 10 feet. Now the community wants the seals removed and are discussing different methods, of course there are people against it (like yours truly) it is almost never heard of that we are lucky enough to watch the wonders of nature so close, this little action is going to cost the community around 750.000 of our tax dollars.... You just got wonder, what the heck are they thinking!!!!

FUN FILLED WEEKEND IN SAN DIEGO

Things were moving and shaking last weekend in San Diego.. It started friday with a fundraiser for "Mama's Kitchen",this is a fundraiser for Support AIDS Suffers. San Diego restaurateurs gathered at the Hyatt in La Jolla to fete the supporters with the finniest of their art for the 14th amual "Mama's Day". It was a celebration and a fundraiser for the work Mama's Kitchen year around taking meals to mostly poor and shut-in AIDS patients. With a paid staff of 11 and cadre of almost 600 volunteers, Mama" Kitchen had delivered over 5 million as of 2008..For me as a caterer was a great opportunity to scans out the competition and get new ideas for my own business, beside it's great to be the guest once in a while...
Then on Saturday and Sunday we had the flying boys from "Red Bull" these guys are amazing, it was the fifth year they have been flying and the third time that they were in SD...These Little planes do some acrobatic maneuvers that beyond comprehension, the planes are the size of Snoopy's Red Barron (I am sure that I will not be popular with the boys with this comparison) over 100.000 spectators joined in the festivities. Their next show will be in Toronto Canada. I was happy on the ground with a beer in hand.
And last but not least "GATOR BY THE BAY" has held Saturday and Sunday, this is a Zydeco, Blues and Crawfish's festival this was a "Bitching' blood-boiling boo-hoo Bayou blues, bangin' at it's bombastic best (their words) there was a singer that I thought was absolutely great, this skinny little gall had a voice of a truck driver (not that I have ever heard a truck driver sing) her name was Ruby and the red Hots she had sung with Etta jones and other jazz singers and with our own Symphony...So you can see my friends, this was a very fun and crazy weekend, it took me two days to recuperate... Now today I am catering for Mainly Mozart, and just getting ready to run out of the door

COWS ON PAREDE IN LA JOLLA

A colorful herd of life-size fiberglass cows mysteriously appeared on the streets of La Jolla, as plucked there by gremlins. The bovines were decorated by local artists as a part of a Cow Parede art exhibit. Among the 36 beasts, there's a light blue cow with clouds, a cow masquerading as a tiger, a graffiti cow and many more. These darlings are going to grace us (sorry the pun) with their visit until June 15, lucky us... Now wouldn't you know it, the whole town is in uproar, one has been stolen, Oh nooooooo, considering that these beauties are huge and bolted to steel platforms, it would take a lot of effort to commit this crime, but my question is, who the heck wants this thing??? Anyhow, this is a fund raiser event and they will be actioned off supposedly for good deeds, however at this time when our citizens are going without, people are living on the streets (yes, even in La Jolla) I think that we should put some more effort into our present problems, and spend our resources in a better way, considering that the city of San Diego is in a deficit of 80 mill, and have deleted teachers, fire fighters and police from their jobs....Beside I think the damn things are really ugly...
