Who killed the electric car. A movie all drivers should see. May 24, 2007 11:08 pm
473 Views
I just finished watching 'Who Killed the Electric Car?' It's 1 & 1/2 hours long. Everyone who owns a car should rent this movie. General Motors actually destroyed their electric cars for fear that Americans would buy them and save on gas (and have cleaner air)! This was a great documentary. After watching, you might decide to boycot G.M. They are disgusting liars.

Which is your favorite? Climbing into a comfy bed or Bouncing out of bed? May 23, 2007 5:29 pm

I am so grateful to climb into a comfy bed, with high-count cotton sheets at the end of the day. I guess my life is a little flat, because I'm not so excited about getting up in the morning. I still have a lot of responsibilities to take care of. Now if there's something fun to do, thats a different story.

How about you?
I like climbing into my comfy bed.
I can't wait to get up and meet the day!
Both. I'm happy to retire and greatful to have survived another nite.

6 illegal aliens were kidnapped and taken back to Tijuana, Mexico May 18, 2007 8:23 am
666 Views
This story was in our local newspaper yesterday. Illegal alien day laborers gather at certain intersections in Calif. hoping to be picked up for work. Two men (one of the hispanic) picked up 3 illegals by offering them $15 per hour to work. They transported them to another location, where there were 3 more illegals. They proceeded to take the 6 illegals to Tijuana, Mexico, where they dropped them off.
Some of the illegal's family were protesting. But I guess since law enforcement is not doing anything, someone got fed up and took the law into their own hand.

Also, in the news was a report of a border patrol agent found dead floating in a river. His vehicle engine was running and his wet patrol dog was sitting by the vehicle. No foul play was suspected. Hmmmm. I think he was in his late 30's. I can't find the article to give more details. This might not make it into your main stream media.

Would women do a better job of running the country? May 14, 2007 1:44 pm
806 Views
Have you notice the headlines lately? One headline says: "Developers are given the go to build as many buildings as close together as possible". Another headline will say: "There is a water shortage--conserve water!" Headlines say our air and waters are polluted. Asthma is on the rise--BUT there are pills you can take (with a long list of side affects)! They tell us the bees are dissappearing, and how important they are for pollination. That farmed salmon has parasites and food coloring is used to make it LOOK natural. They want to foist cloned meat on us to make up for shorgages. Don't eat tuna more than once a week--the mercury will kill ya!

An assemblyman is trying to make incandesant light bulbs illegal as a way to cut back on energy consumption. (Where does that leave owners of antiques or can you imagine chandeliers with fluorescent bulbs?) At the same time the senate is working on a bill to give illegal aliens a way to become citizens. (A reward for breaking laws.) Which will encourage more people to come here illegally.

Why don't these 'leaders' connect the dots? Their 'solutions' to overpopulation are not fixxing the problems. Eventually they will tell us to go to bed at 8 PM as a way to conserve electricity--skip dinner. They will shut water off during the day (it happened in Greece) to conserve.

Never--or perhaps only when it is too late--will government realize that we need to stop population growth to make life worth living for everyone. Do we have to get to the point that we destroy the earth and mankind? We are held captive by a myopic group who can only see PROFIT FOR THE PRIVILEGED as a worthy goal.

Would women do a better job of running the country? We understand the concept of supply and demand. How many times did you hear your mother say: "Get that out of here!" Referring to something that did not belong, did not fit, or was going to mess up the house. How many times have you heard a mother say: "Two (or 4)kids are enough. I could not feed or educate more!"

What say you?
It's worth a try. Put more women in government.
No, women will not do it better.
We should contact our senators/ representatives and make them understand!

Remember the saying: "God helps those who help themselves"? Sometimes it may be right to pray and wait. Other times I think we should pray and get busy. Some might say we'd be getting in Gods way. I think God will guide us if we pray.

Loving someone who's old and wrinkled. May 5, 2007 1:39 am

I sat next to a man last night who must be getting close to 90. He had to put his wife in a home a few months ago. They are a Jewish couple and were married a LONG time. It has been very hard on him. He is alone, and his body hurts. He is waiting to die. But last night at the dinner party. We laughed, he had a sparkle in his eye. He talked about being in the army, and this time it was a new story he told. Sometimes he repeats a story. I'm young enough to be his daughter. As I reflect today on the twinkle in his eye, I realize that love comes in many forms. I love his friendship.

Today I saw my beautiful 14 year old grandaughter and 13 year old grandson. They are young, and fresh, and getting 'wiser'. I love them SO MUCH! They are what everybody wants to be, young and not wrinkled.

There is a woman who is so accomplished and is much smarter than I. I am humbled by the fact that she seems to really like me. When she dances, her eyes turn more blue. She has lost her face to wrinkles. I love her friendship.
Another woman has early alzheimers, she told me last night she liked my sense of humor. I told her it was the Irish in me. I love to laugh and bring out the joy in others. The eyes do not age when we laugh. I thank God for these wonderful people in my life.

Romantic love has a lot of tension. But friendship love is much richer.

What do you think about aliens marching on a communist holiday in USA? May 3, 2007 8:54 am

May 1st is a communist, socialist holiday. How do you feel about spending tax dollars (police are not free) for ILLEGAL aliens to march and demand special perks?

Do you think most Americans do not realize this is a communist holiday?
It's fine with me. I would support canibals marching, anything goes!
I think ILLEGAL aliens should be deported, let them march in their country.
I don't know what is going on, and I don't care.

What happens to foreigners who participate in political activities? May 1, 2007 2:47 pm

"The Mexican Constitution prohibits political activities by foreigners, and such actions may result in detention and/or deportation". This comes from the U.S. DEPT. OF STATE travel advisory website.

I wonder why they do that??? Maybe its in their countries' best interest? They're pretty smart!

What's the longest airplane ride you've had the 'pleasure' of taking? Apr 25, 2007 2:48 pm

It took us a day and a half to get back from Greece last week. After a sleepless rest we got up at 1 am to get to the Thessaloniki airport, where we waited almost 4 hours to fly to Zurich. We had a 10 hour lay-over in Zurich (I loved the city). Even tho' we were zombies we took the train into the city and walked walked along a water channel. It was a bonus stopover.

From Zurich to Los Angeles, our flight was 12 plus hours. I got a seat right behind business class, (do they call them bulk head seats?) I was able to stretch out and even put my feet on the wall, like another lady--she did it first!!!
I took 2 pain pills, put in ear plugs and FINALLY got some sleep. Thank God for pain pills!

Remember when we dampened the clothes down, let them sit, then ironed them? Apr 25, 2007 8:45 am

When I was a young girl we used to do that.

When we were in Greece earlier this month, our hostess was doing this. I'd forgotten all about the good old days. Washing with a wringer washer, or by hand. Starching those stand-out mesh petty coats, hanging clothes on the line to dry, bring them in the house, dampen them down, wrap them in something, then iron. How long that must have been the drill. How far we have come in a few decades!

I saw steam irons in the store in Greece, but this lady is stuck in her ways.
