Eating from a square plate. Jul 26, 2007 1:51 am
514 Views
I didn't NEED another set of dishes. I have desired a set of dishes with square plates, since the first time I ate on one at the Hilton several years back. After returning from Greece in April, I felt the unexplainable need to buy something. I went shopping at Macy's and they had dishes on sale. Square dinner plates. I bought a set for four.

I had french toast with blueberries and strawberries on my square plate this morning. Such a simple thing, I enjoyed soooo much!

Should I kill him? Or, should I let him live? Jul 17, 2007 1:29 pm

Way up high, over my dining room hutch, I spied a 'daddy long legs' spider. I hate killing spiders, but when one gets into my house I say: "If God wanted you to live, he would not have let you come into my house". And then, bam! Good bye. But should I leave that Daddy long legs so he can kill mosquitoes and flies? Thanks for helping me out with this dilemma. You are the jury.
Yes, Kill it!
No, don't kill it
Ask it to dance, then waltz it outside!

Do you look forward to the future, or would you like to revisit the past? Jul 15, 2007 1:49 pm

I get nostalgic when I see old movies. Old movies from the 40's and 50's show us open landscape, and slow simmering romance, and honor from heros. I was born in 1944 so I was just a little girl then.

Movies from the 60's and 70's remind me of when I was in my 20's and 30's.

I long for more open space. Less speed, less trafic, more honesty. I think I would rather revisit the past. The things I look forward to in the future are watching my grandchildren mature. And there will be some travel for me. I look forward to working in the garden, and cooking some good meals.

I can't wear the very cute clothes that are in style. I'm lucky I could up until my 50's but I'm just accepting the fact that I am 63. I've fought it hard, but I am accepting that I'm a real grandma now.

How about you? Do you look forward to the future, or would you like to revisit the past?

How do you end a friendship? Jul 10, 2007 9:35 am

I've been going to a monthly lunch with some ladies for several years. The women I felt closest to have moved away over the years and now all thats left are 4 other ladies. I didn't know them before I started attending this lunch that was started by a close friend.

We never go anywhere together, see each other, envite each other to functions, or call and chat. We just meet for lunch. I have wanted to stop going for months. Last month I said I was out of town. This month I just have not called to say why I missed the lunch on Monday.

I ponder if I should just say, "I don't feel connected to you ladies". Or just make up a lie, or just fade away.

How do you deal with moving on?

I'm sitting in the massage chair in the dark.
Listening to Machu Picchu Impressions on my headset. Half here on earth half in another world:
We're in the jungle, it's dark. We're holding hands. We're on a make believe adventure. Kids again.

Will I ever see you again? I'm an old woman now. 63. You were 13 when you died. I was 14. We were so close. Will I ever experience you again.

I'm crying. I miss you little brother. All the things you did not experience. I know you were just here. In a few minutes it will be you're birthday.

Mother's spirit stopped by last week. I felt something stirring and tried to think what anniversary it was. Who's birthday. I couldn't remember. Later Wanda told me that she felt Mother too. It was June 3rd, the anniversary of her death.

What's up with you two coming around? Is it time for one more of us to go? To join you? I sure would like to see you, but you will be the age of my grandson now.

What a surprise. To experience your presence after so long. I can't wait to ask if the sisters heard from you as well.

Love, forever...

They want to make using a fireplace in your home illegal in Calif. Jun 7, 2007 6:44 pm

This is how our officials want to help the environment. (Excuise me while I roll on the floor, hysterically.) I understand the ships in San Pedro harbor contribute greatly to smog in So Cal. But do the politicians start there? No. They start with the individual homeowner, who is not organized to stand up and say: Stop taking away our freedoms.

How many fireplaces are in use in So. Calif? An area that is full of concrete and high rises and shopping centers. A desert.

I called my senators today. I spoke my mind. If more of us did this, they might hear us.

"Am I alive?" She ask the police officer Jun 7, 2007 4:31 am

A couple of years ago my daughter was hit on the freeway by one of those super sized big rig trucks. Her car spun out of control and she ended up on the outside lane, when she had been in the second lane to the center. She blacked out. When she came too, she ask the police officer if she was alive.

We rushed to the emergency room, where she had broken glass in her hair among other places. She was working on her degree, with a husband and two children at home. Her injuries were not life threatening and she did not miss a class.

THANK YOU GOD FOR SAVING MY DAUGHTER!!! I can't say it enough.

If your coffee is not sweet enough, do you add more suger? Jun 2, 2007 8:39 am

I often don't get it right when I'm sweeting my coffee. And most times I just drink it as is. I don't enjoy it and often won't drink the whole cup. Is this a metaphor for my life?

This morning I added a little more sweetner, but then it was too sweet!

How about you, will you put up with less than a perfect cup of coffee? Less than a perfect meal? Less than a perfect day? Or do you make it just right?
Most times I just drink it even if it does not taste the best
I insist on a perfect cup and ajust it if it's wrong.

How many people do you know who are really happy? Jun 2, 2007 8:16 am
980 Views
I was talking to someone yesterday who would like to find a love connection. Another person I know is having car trouble. And theres the gal who is living on $600 a month. She wants love and money.

If we have love, we might need money. If we have money we might be looking for love, or good health.

I tried to think of someone I know who has everything they want and who is very happy. Most everyone is dealing with a problem.

Don't let your problem run your life. It seems to be a human condition. Go ahead and enjoy the good parts and I hope what you are looking for shows up!
I am blissfully happy 100% of the time (not on medication)
I am happy 50% of the time.
I am in the dumps most of the time.
I'm o.k. unless I think about what's missing.
I think other people have a better life than I do.
I'm full of the joy of the Lord. I will accept my condition but never give up hope for what's missisng.

A Self-made WOMAN! May 26, 2007 10:13 am
561 Views
Today a woman of 40 receives her masters degree. She graduated with honors 2 years ago with her bachelors degree. She was raised in a middle-class home. But she decided to do things her way. She got in with a crowd that was going nowhere. Later she joined a church, then married a nice man. They had 2 children. She did everything she could to take care of her kids, and tried to suppliment their income by throwing newspapers in the wee hours, teaching drunk driving school with the kids in a playpin in the next room and so on.

A few years ago she realized that it was up to her to pull her family out of poverty. If she wanted things to be different she was going back to school. With a husband, and 2 kids, she managed to excell in shool. Today she receives her masters degree.

That woman is my daughter. I am so proud of her.
