Today I was making a Pita. My Greek mother-in-law taught me how to cook some of the meals her son loves. I was in my 20's and spoke virtually no Greek. She spoke no Engish, and was visiting from Greece. I would watch her cook, take notes, and copy her. Here it is 40 years later and I'm making a Pita. I was thinking of her while I prepared the filo dough and the filling. Only a handfull of people know how to make this special dish with yellow squash filling. It is home cooking for us.

The other day I pulled out a small shovel my mother used to use when I was a little girl. I thought: "Her hands touched this." It brought her back to life for me.

My father made each of us wooden boxes. Mine has six sides. It is a sewing box. He made my mother a weaving loom and it sits in my house. I think of him when I see these things made decades ago.

The departed do live in our hearts and minds. Pictures, movies, dreams and memories bring them back to life.

Please call your senators today and tell them NO to the Dream act.

Why should you pay college tuition (through taxpayer dollars) for any illegal alien?

Why should you (a tax paying citizen) not be entitled to receive in-state tuition benefits for yourself or your child in states other than the one you live in....while a person LIVING ILLEGALLY in the U.S. can receive this tuition benefit in ANY STATE IN THE U.S?

Aren't you tired of the plundering our government is doing? Here is a chance for you to speak up. Thanks.

Right now the senate is trying to pass a 'dream' amnstey bill for illegal aliens. I just called my senators and told them how upset I am that the president of Mexico in his recent first state of the union speech received a standing ovation for saying: "Mexico has no borders", and "Where there is a Mexican there is Mexico". (Meaning Mexicans in America are still loyal to Mexico and not America?)

How STUPID (or greedy) can our officials be?? Trouble is brewing, we have been warned, and still they tip the scales against American citizens!

Most of you probably don't even know that the Mexican president said that. Do our senators know it? Would it matter?

I was just wondering. As I sat eating my lunch I watched a fly, upside down, on my patio screen. Then I got to wondering if they know their upside down when they are on the ceiling. Thats the extent of my profound thinking today.

We have a metropolis in Riverside County that loses their power every time we've had a heat wave for that last 4 years or so. It goes out for days at a time. They lose all the food in their refrigerators and are without air conditioning when they need it most. It has not been fixxed. Now when that happens in Romania, or Mexico, we think: "Thats what people expect in a poor, mismanaged country".

Gov. Schwartzineger said on the news today that we have to address the "CHRISIS" of water shortage. I want to know why there is a CHRISIS. We all have brains. We can think. What happens when you overdevelop in the desert? Duhh. And now it's a 'chrisis' because politicians can't see the big picture.

Sheesh!

The following article caught my eye (from the Daily Bulletin newspaper):

Mexican president Calderon blasts U.S. for deportations and promised to fight to protect the rights of Mexicans in the U.S., saying: "Mexico does not stop at its borders". (Clue #1).

This criticism earned Calderon a standing ovation during his first state-of-the-nation address.

He also reached out to the millions of Mexicans living in the U.S., (many illegally), saying: "Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico". (Clue #2). (End of article).

We have illegal aliens supported by their government running up Bush's lower orifice, while
he directs our money and troups to fight in Iraq. The Mexican president feels comfortable to even speak like that! The world must be falling down laughing at us.

Clue #1 and clue #2 supports the theory that Mexico is planning on taking over the lower states (and more if they can) for the benefit of Mexico. Research Aztlan Rising for more details.

How about it citizens? What are you going to do? Follow the 'leader'? Or kick butt in congress and the oval office. Please speak up!

It's easy to be content and happy when things go our way, when people agree with us--and when we are 'in love'!

It is difficult to be our best self when we are dealing with difficult people, and things are not going our way.

This is my project: Not getting stuck on the negative. Moving past the small stuff. I can only work on myself, and not someone else.

Detach. Breathe.

Wheeling down the road, with the music of my choice, as loud as I want. Passing pretty scenery. It's such a sense of freedom.

Sleeping in the middle of the bed!

Eating ice cream, or chocolate!

Cooking something yummy.

Reading a good book, or watching a love story.

Taking a walk and enjoying nature.

How about you? Whats your favorite thing to do when you are alone?

I was listening to the radio Saturday and they had a 'contest'. The question was: "What did they find when they did president Bush's colonoskippy (I can't find the word in the dictonary. Do you like MY spelling?)

Some of the call in answers were:

A goat and Vincente Fox (Mexico's president).

Weapons of mass destruction.

His head.

It was so funny! What do you think they found?
