Gov Schwartzineger wants to stop homecare for the disabled! May 27, 2008 12:05 am
911 Views
I'm hopping mad! Pollyana 5 has hospice coming to her home to help. Without them we would be lost. Why do politicians cut funding for schools and the disabled? Why are we spending so much money on a war instead of taking care of our own people????

P.S. Pollyana has had a rough time this last week. The hospice nurse put her on methadone, and it seems to be causing her to sleep all day. She is unsteady on her feet. Hospice says she is overmedicated. We've cut back on THEIR recommended dose and hope to find out in the next few days if Poly can participate in life more.

I wish she would write about it. But I don't think she will.

Her phone rang, waking her up. Someone said: "Hurry and get ready, I'm taking you out to breakfast." She got up and showered and dressed as fast as she could manage. But no one came.

The question is: Was it a wrong number? Did the person show up at someone elses house who was still in bed?

Or was it a dream? Or was it a message from Marshal?

Then I told Poly that Ola had written a post on SFF asking about her. Poly got all excited. And I thought: "Wow, I guess Ola is a very important person in Poly's blogland." Then Poly said: "Is she coming here?" I said: "Who?" Poly said: "Oprah." I said: "No, not Oprah, OLA".

I went to see Polly today. She was having a frustrating morning when I called. She did not want to burden me. I knew some sister time would improve things, so I drove over (1 hour drive) and it was good for her to be pampered. We went out to lunch. I gave her a foot rub and a head massage. She loves that!

She is frustrated at not being able to think of words. I was unable to think of words as well and I laughed and told her she had company. I offered to type a message on SFF for her, but she has had a rough week. Her 3rd son, who was wonderful when he first moved in, began to drink and he became a real problem. We managed to get him out. It was very hard on her and she is very sad about how that all went down.

She is sleeping alot. She watches t.v a little. And she gets alot of phone calls. She is not sure if she will get better or go the other way. She went to bed early, and I gave her a head massage and sang "He's got the whole world in His hands" "He's got you 'n me sister, in His hands" Then I sang He's got (each of her son't names) in His hands.

You all have meant so much to her. She wants to be positive when she communicates to you. We talk about you. Her computer is on. I really don't like to type about her, because SFF is HER thing, but you guys deserve to know. Thank you all for your prayers. Right back at 'cha. God bless each of you. You have been such wonderful friends to her.

First off let me thank all of you who have been a contact for her on SFF. When Marshal died her world completely shattered. When she found this site, she began to have hope and a diversion from her terrible loss. She even met a couple of men and got a hug and a kiss. For anyone who prayed for her, communicated with her, or held her hand, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I hope someone is as kind to you as you have been to my sister.

Hospice was called last week. The worst part was when Poly was diagnosed last July. The stress and not knowing when this time would come has been awful, for me.

When I spoke with Poly on the phone she told me she is very happy. She has no cares. The best part for her is she will see Marshal again.

Her 3rd son is living with her. He did not answer the door when hospice came. I could not sleep the other night because I was so upset about this. I ask for your prayers that all these details will be sorted out. She has wanted to be in her own bed. She lives an hour away from me. I am taking a trip next week. So I cannot bring her to my house until the first of May. I could not deal with this yesterday so I don't know if her son has come around and is accepting hospice's help.

I spoke with her on the phone yesterday morning. Her speech is slurred and she was a little confused. I wonder if this is the pain pills and cough medicine she is on.

As the girl/woman I knew transforms into another dimension, it is easier to let her go. We have not lost her yet. The hospice nurse said with her faith she might live between 2 worlds for quite some time. God bless you all and take care.

(This was the title of an article in the L.A. Times today.) The Food & Drug Administration found that some heparin ingredients produced in a Chinese factory had been contaminated with a man-made chemical which mimics the blood-thinning actions of heparin but is cheaper to produce (China was boosting their profits). At least 19 deaths and hundreds of allergic reactions were reported in the U.S.

Tonight on 60 Minutes they talked about China bailing out some of our failing companies here in the USA. There is a fear that China will pull their money out and cause serious financial harm to our country.

Lets see... China has sold poison to our pets, lead in children's toys, death-causing chemicals in our Drugs. What are the chances that they will sabotage our finances and work force? Pretty high in my opinion.

Wake up, fellow Americans. I liked us better when we made our own Drugs and toys and pet food!!! Amd yet the threat we are told is: "Goods will cost more if we stop buying from China". I say: SO WHAT!!! Goods might cost more, but at least the money AND JOBS will stay IN OUR COUNTRY. We are giving China all this money to BUY us off! Dumb, dumb, dumb!

Are you familiar with the beef recall in Calif? Guess what the USDA wants to do now! Mar 29, 2008 11:59 pm

Under pressure from the 'food industry', the Agriculture Department is considering a proposal NOT TO IDENTIFY RETAILERS WHO RECEIVE TAINTED MEAT FOR RESALE TO YOU AND ME, except in cases of serious health risk (called class 1).

Our taxes pay for the Agriculture Department. It's another case of an agency working for and protecting business instead of the consumer.

If you heard the recent news story about a cow that was so sick and diseased it could not walk and was put into the food chain by using equipment. This incident would be considered a "class 2" and not subject to reporting who received the meat to sell to us.

Our government has no respect for the individual.

She says: "To make a long story short, picture chicken little AFTER the sky has fallen. More to follow when I leave the hospital and when I get home. Thank you for your love. I love you all dearly." (The nurse said she will be hospitalized for a few more days) (She has a blood infection that they expect to clear up.)

A Jewish shopkeeper in Key West Fla. called me a redneck! Feb 20, 2008 7:55 am

I was in Key West earlier this month, doing the 'Duval crawl'. Duval is a mile-long street between the Atlantic ocean and the Mexican Gulf. It's neat to say you've walked from the Atlantic to the Gulf.

I was doing some shopping and stopped into one store and bought a gauze top and ask them to print something on it. The first young man who assisted me went off to put the design on my shirt. An older, larger man approached me and brought me a pair of pants that matched the top. I tried them on but did not like the way they fit. He then offered me a dress that cost $178 dollars and said he would take $100 off the price. I said: "No, I don't want to acquire a lot of stuff." He then brought the price down to $60, and offered to throw in the pants as well. I said no again.

He said: "I know why it is you're not buying. You rednecks are not buying anything. If I offered it to you for $20 you would not buy it." ( $20 is probably what it was worth.)

I realized he was insulting me, but I was on vacation, and in a happy mood. I just let it slide. The dummy should have thought about the top I was buying. If I were prejudiced, I would have bought nothing from him. And I guess he does not read, because people are not buying. Sheesh!!!

Shopping is supposed to be fun. I thought later that they were like car salesmen. The younger 'hawk' helped me first and the then arm twisting big guy took over to try and sell me more stuff. Oh well....

Why not make it illegal to outsource jobs to other countries to"stimulate the economy"? Jan 27, 2008 8:09 am

I think a 10-year old would come up with better solutions than giving Americans a one time $300 or $600 check. With money borrowed from China, no less.

American companies are allowed to outsource jobs to India (who now rejects our American dollars from tourists), and Pakistan etc., Why don't the fools in charge recognize this recession HAD to happen. Keep American jobs in America. Keep illegal aliens OUT.

This refund is not going to solve any problems. WE are skating on thin ice.

Throw the bums out or suffer the consequences Americans.

Grampa Conner threw Babe Ruth off the property!!! Jan 25, 2008 12:11 pm

I googled Conner Hunters Lake, Fla last night. That is where my mother grew up. Her parents owned Hunters Lake where people used to travel to fish and relax.

I found a blog that mentioned my family and others. It was wonderful to see names my mother used to mention when we were little. We grew up on the west coast with only letters as a contact with our relatives.

I was delighted to see mention of Babe Ruth visiting my grandparents place, and my uncle Billy fishing with him.

I called my older sister today to ask her if Mama had mentioned Babe Ruth. She said: "Oh, yes. Mama talked about him. She told a story of the time Babe Ruth peed on a tree where women could see him. Grampa threw him off the property. Told him to never come back. That what he'd done was indecent!"

I'm so glad I have a sister who remembers things I don't.
