Put your actions where your mouth is. Nov 5, 2006 6:46 pm

How many people do you know who support the Iraq invasion? How many people say: "At least it's not on OUR soil!"? I think that if a war is TRULY worth fighting, we would fight it anywhere, even on OUR soil, because we would be behind it 100% no matter what. Instead we send SOMEONE ELSES child to fight this war (not our own, for heaven sakes!) It costs us billions, but we have no voice on how this administration uses OUR money. Bush has made it very clear that he won't let anything WE say influence him!
I am against this 'war' and I would do anything to keep my grandchildren from fighting. I put my actions where my mouth is.

Now, anyone who has a family member in this 'war', truly does support this war, if they want to. God bless them and the soldiers. I just don't agree with this war and I will NOT support my loved ones fighting. This is a crock of oil/Haliburton/moneymaking opportunity for you-know-who!

I have a friend who supports the war, but would NEVER let her son go fight. What kind of support is that. That's like our leaders, they won't send their kids, but they send our children to fight.

Well, I got that off my chest!

What is the truth, and what are the lies??? Nov 4, 2006 2:54 pm

We are voting on Proposition 90 in Calif. This, in my opinion is the most important prop on the ballot. It's to stop eminent domain abuse that the Superior Court O.K.d last year with their outrageous Kelo decision. I am for proposition 90. But I wanted to find out who the people are that oppose it. So I googled.

Well, guess what? One of them is Kenneth Willis, President of League of California Homeowners. What do you think the league of C.H. is? It is a non profit that he founded to assist homeowners with doing home repairs.

But..here is the red flag. He sits on the city council of Upland. I attended a protest some months back against building homes in the flight path of our local airport. The room was full of protesters. But the city council o.k.'d the development. This guy is owned by the developers. Therefore, if he is against prop. 90--I know I am right in being FOR prop 90.

I notice the commercials say things like "Prop 90 will benefit a few wealthy people" . What
the opposition leaves out is IT WILL BENEFIT THOUSANDS OF REGULAR FOLKS. But they use scare tacticts.

Right now, the city can rezone my land and make it worth less, pay me a little money, let a PRIVATE developer take over my house, build a hotel and make millions. I have to find a new home at todays hight prices. VOTE YES ON PROP 90. Read it. It's a little over 1 page of fine print.

Gals, remember when we were young and feeling our oats? Oct 29, 2006 11:23 am

Now we're feeling our chin whiskers. I was waiting in the car last night when I looked over at a 'older' woman sitting in her car. She was running her fingers over her chin. Pausing a finger, here and there. I knew what she was doing. He he he. When we were kids we had to pull weeds. Now we have to pull the chin whiskers. A woman's work is never done--I tell you!

I read in the paper where more people are using mail-in ballots this year. There's all kinds of corrupt activity thats possible now. We're losing control of our 'checks and balances'.

Limited cemetery space led to reuse of burial plots. Oct 7, 2006 6:45 am

When I was in Greece in the 1970's, a lady told me that their houses were very cold in the winter, because it cost too much for them to keep them warm. I thought: "How terrible" as I set my thermostat as high as I wanted in So. Calif.

On that same trip after using the bathroom, I asked to wash my hands. The water was shut off by the government during the day because there was a water shortage. My host brought out a pitcher of their precious water for me to wash my hands (What a fool they must have thought I was). I just didn't understand until I saw the pitcher come out.

In Europe limited cemetery space has led to the reuse of burial plots and the recovery of human remains after 3 years, to be stored in ossuaries (a chest, building, or well). Yikes!

I'm telling you folks. We need to encourage zero population growth here in the USA. What happened in Europe is now happening here with regards to utilities.

We can stop the growth by stopping immigration. I am tired of hearing people say we are a nation of immigrants. That was then, and this is now. We need to stop and think about the QUALITY of life. We don't need any more people. A man will limit the number of children he fathers so that he can support them. We as a nation need to change our agenda and consider these things.

You want to be around the person more. You want to favorably impress them. You feel like a happy kid. Even if you don't want to. You feel good when you see them. It's a nice feeling. It can hit you out of the blue. Hope you are all attracted to someone today.

Bicycling with the buffalo--terrifying minutes Sep 12, 2006 6:41 pm

I'm old enough to remember western movies and the buffalo. But I've never encountered one until last week.

We were camping between Jackson Hole, Wy, and the Grand Tetons where the buffalo roamed free. That night in the tent I heard the coyotees howling. It was the most beautiful sound. It felt like I was encased in the sound. And it was like harmony. Unbelievable.

The next morning I went for a ride on the road through the buffalo herd area. I was petrified when a huge buffalo crossed the street in front of me about 50 feet away. I stopped and got off the bike. He was huffing, and it was really a loud and 'big' huffing. He crossed the street and approached another huge buffalo and they huffed at each other. I thought they were going to fight, but I guess they were saying 'hello'. They looked at me. I took cover behind the only thing there. A stop sign. I hoped they could read. Finally they sauntered away and I hopped on my bike and flew (as fast as a grandma can) away.

Polyanna wrote about the cost of her utilities and what she did. It is crazy that our city government and developers are allowed to continue to build houses when we are being told to conserve water and utilities (and gasoline costs just go up and up and UP)! A solution to the problem would be to limit growth. The more population increases, the more precious our resources become, and WE are told to cut back, and charged more. Why not STOP THE GROWTH???Americans had our birth rate under control. (We need to put the brakes on immigration now!!!) Attend city council meetings and speak up to control development in your area, if this is a problem. God knows our city councels are driven by greed for tax revenue. They have no vision for the quality of life we all will have.

LIke an invisible finger print, loss leaves its mark Aug 14, 2006 9:08 am

You might have known them for just a conversation, or just a plane ride, or just a cruise. You might have known them for decades, all the good, bad and the ugly, of them.

But when they are gone--moved on, left, or died. There is a mark they leave, like an invisible fingerprint. It is there. God bless us all, who wear the invisible fingerprints.

Two border patrol agents near El Paso, Tx. shot at a drug smuggler who was transporting 800 lbs of marijuana. OUR 'Homeland Security' contacted the drug smuggler who had escaped back to Mexico, and gave him immunity to testify against our two agents who now face 20 years in a federal prison. The drug smuggler is now suing the Border Patrol for $5 million for civil rights violation. Ha ha ha ha.
God bless America. We have a Homeland Security who aids drug smugglers. A border patrol that is not allowed to pursue or defend themselves against illegal aliens. All financed with our tax dollars.

The names of the players are: Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila, drug smuggler. Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, border patrol agents.

Do you think this is insane, or do you agree with what is happening?
I think this is insane, why are we financing these agencies?
I agree that our agents should go to jail and the drug smuggler deserves $5 million for his troubles.
