Packing, packing, packing and MORE packing. Apr 2, 2007 9:19 am

Getting ready to go takes HOURS. I want to keep everything to a minimum, but have what I need. We are taking pillows, because last time we were in Greece, our hostesses pillows were like sleeping on a horse's hip! So I will leave her 2 nice pillows and pillow cases (for our next visit.) We are going to be there for the Greek Easter. They have fireworks! I did not know that. This holiday is more important to them than Christmas. I will see and learn a lot. (We hope.)

Hi ho! Hi ho! It's off to Greece we go. Mar 20, 2007 2:26 am

The count down is started. In two weeks we'll be on a plane to Greece. I don't want to think about it too much, because I become useless. There is too much work to do before then and I can't get all scatterbrained.

I'll set a suitcase out and start droppig things in. The trick is to take enough, but not too many things.

I'm looking forward to practing the language. I have great respect for anyone who speaks more than one language. I wish I would have tried to learn Greek when I was younger.

Blood banks put at risk by parasite. Oh dear, now what are we gonna' do?? Mar 15, 2007 3:34 pm

Bad news travels fast. In today's L.A. Times: "A potentially deadly parasite from Latin America called Chagas has become the latest threat to the blood and organ supplies in the U.S.--especially in Los Angeles. The parasite which is passed to humans from a blood-sucking insect that looks like a striped cockroach, can feed over years on tissues of the heart, etc.," "In 1996 1 in 9850 blood doners tested positive. By 2006, the number is 1 in 3800 doners."

What a rotten development this is! Remember "The life of Riley" t.v. show? Those were the good old days.

We always think we have more time... Mar 13, 2007 8:02 pm

More time to live

There will always be the next time

The next time I see you

The next time we talk

The next time we laugh

How much time do we really have?

I don't know

Do you?

Someone retired today. He will move on. Someone got in a fight. She will move on. Someone died today. That's the end.

It's thru relationships that we discover parts of ourselves. Finding our emotional holes & wholes Mar 11, 2007 11:44 am

I think most of us were born with an emotional hole. If we can learn how to live with it, or maybe even fix it, we can call our life a success.

As a result of reading Body Clutter by Marla Cilley (FlyLady), I faced the feeling I started out with as a toddler. My quietest wound is feeling 'left out'. I just found out about it today. I am a middle child and had close ties to my siblings, but my parents were unable to recognize that the toddler that walked around all day (me) with a soft cry, might just want to be picked up and loved.

I became strong. I can stand alone, do the job alone, entertain myself. I know how to behave (most of the time) in a group. I like to lead, but I can follow when appropriate.

I'm going to make some changes in my life. Spring is a time of renewal. As a metaphor, I just came in from chopping away at a night blooming jasmine. Did the frost kill it? Looks like it. But there was a small stalk of green coming out of the base. It may have survived, time will tell. I will give it a chance to renew, and I will renew my life with new friendships. Looking out my bedroom window at the jasmine will be my reminder.

I'm trying out a new 'bandaid' for an emotional boo-boo. Mar 10, 2007 3:42 pm

How do you deal with something very upsetting? I ususally think about it alot. Go over what was said, what was done, again and again. It usually takes me about 3 days to 'get over it'.

I bought the video on "The Secret". They say what you think you create. So I was searching for some new way to get over a bad event. I read somewhere that this woman would say as a meditation: "I love myself". I have started to think this every time I want to think about the upsetting conversation that ended a friendship last week. I have decided not to put myself near this person who is intollerent of my view. He has been 'gunning' for me and I took the bait and we got into an argument. That will be the last time. I'm glad I've set my boundry, and I repeat "I love myself" when I start to think about it and get sad.

I had one last conversation with him, when I told him I was sad. He was insulting but I did not respond negatively. I wished him well. He is in poor health and I did not want my last words to be mean. He has problems with everyone, family and friends. It's his own fault. I feel free! I made the right decision.

What tree(s) to you associate with 'home'. Mar 4, 2007 8:56 pm

For me it's palm trees, citrus, and the eucaliptus trees. I was walking tonight and saw a lone palm tree high above everything. I thought "now I feel like I'm home". What LOVELY days we're having. Today the air felt like 'body temperature'. It was not hot or cold. Wish they were all like this!

Anyone who says; "We are a nation of immigrants" is Feb 20, 2007 1:33 pm

using backwards thinking not forward thinking to argue for illegal immigration.

We also used to use wringer washing machines to clean our clothes. Just because 'we did it in the past' does not mean it's working today.

We've got to get global warming under control if we want to leave a decent planet for our grandchildren. Part of that equation is to stop ALL immigration into the USA. Encourage birth control (like we Americans practice) by making people deal with their problems in their homeland.

We are being told in Calif. not to run the water while brushing our teeth. Whats next? Brushing our teeth every other day!!! We don't need more people, we need leaders with brains who are patriotic!

Mindless fluff! What do you think about liposuction? Feb 17, 2007 8:17 am

I bought some new outfits recently and realize that I would be happier with less tummy. I have tried to increase my exercise to correct the problem. I was looking at liposuction on the internet this morning. Do you know anyone who has had it done? How did it turn out?

What does the modern-day devil look like? Feb 14, 2007 9:21 am

To me the devil is a large American corporation. For example, one that drills in the forests of Brazil. Does not use safe practices available, but destroys all the drinking water for the local inhabitants. Bill Moyers reported on this recently.

The devil is everywhere. I have not bought valentine cards or gifts yet. I am disgusted with the way merchants get in the middle of Valentines day and Christmas. If I do not buy anything is my love not counted?

I am contemplating how rich we make Wal-mart owners and Texaco and all of them. How they use our money against us to influence our politicians. I'm on strike! I will give a hug and some time to all I love today!

Happy Valentines day to all!
