Time for My Summer Blog :)

Hahaha, well I'm a week early but it's about time for me to blog again here. 
Let's see what's been happening? Well I lost my little brother in late April to heart failure. Did get to the funeral thanks to the generosity of my and some of my brother's friends who got me first to Boston and then from Boston to Portland, Maine where the neighbor of my brother put me up in her house for 5 days.
The school year ended before Memorial Day for the students and on May 31st for the teachers and staff. It was a fairly successful year and starting next year I will be tenured which is nice.
We had a memorial service for my brother in Lincoln on June 2nd and we hosted a get together at the house for the guests from out of town who had come in special for the service. It was successful.
My and I have a father- bonding/camping trip planned for Yellowstone and the Tetons right after July 4th. We went there in 2005 but didn't get to go last year so that should be fun.
Right now the NCAA College World Series is going on here in the big O, so the past two nights I've gone down there to party and soak up some of the atmosphere. My friend Chris is a DJ there at one of the beer tents.

Well it's finally Spring. Winter seems to last forever around here. Spring on the other hand is about 2 weeks long .
This is a place where you can use your heater one week and be shoveling snow and then have to break out your fans or turn on your air conditioner within two weeks.
There was a blizzard here on March 1-2 and then on March 13, it reached 80 degrees a record high. Today it's sunny and pleasantly warm outside. I'd guess temps are in the mid to high 60's right now.
So what's been happening? Not a whole lot, doing lots of singing of karaoke at least twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Occasionally I go on Saturdays too but last night I just decided to stay at home, watch some movies and chit-chat with some friends online.
Well that's about it for now, see you in the Summer LOL!

hmmmm let's see one blog in August, another one in November and now one in February I think I'm doing one each season the way things are going
Ah well, today is Superbowl Sunday. I'm kind of rooting for the Colts I suppose even though they are the favorites. I just think that maybe they deserve to finally have it be their year.
Still they are notorious for tanking so don't bet anything on them.
Been doing lots of singing, lots of working and lots of chatting with friends. Other than sleeping and eating that's about it.
I have a really funny blonde joke, maybe I'd better tell it or I'll have to wait until Spring when I do my next blog LOL!
There are these 3 blondes and they all apply for an opening as a police detective. The man interviewing them sits them down at a table and tells them that being a detective requires excellent short term memory skills and the ability to remember distinguishing features and details of things they see. He reaches into a dossier of a convicted criminal and holds up a profile of the picture to blonde #1 for 5 seconds.
Then he puts it down and says, "Did you notice any distinguishing features about the man in the picture?" She says, "You bet I did, that man has only one ear." The Police detective says, "Of course he does, that's his profile, you are dismissed." So the first blonde rolls her eyes takes her purse and leaves in a huff.
He holds up the same picture in front of blonde #2 for 5 seconds. He then says, "How about you, did YOU notice any distinguishing features about that man in the picture?"
She says, of course I did, "That man has only one eye." The police detective is clearly annoyed and says, "Didn't you hear what I just told the other woman, this is the man's profile of COURSE you can only see one eye. You are dismissed too." Blonde #2 rolls her eyes, picks up her purse and flounces out.
Left with only one blonde applicant now the detective says, "This is a probably a waste of time but what the heck." He then holds the same picture up to the third blonde and says, "Okay how about you did you notice any distinguishing features about this man?"
She says, "You bet I did, I am certain that man wears contact lenses." The detective's mouth drops open and he looks in the file and he sees that she is right. He says, "That is amazing. How did you know that he wore contact lenses?" She says, "Helllllooooo, if he only has one ear and one eye, he CAN'T possibly wear glasses."

Wow kinda hard for me to believe that I haven't returned here since school started. So why not tonight.
I love Thanksgiving and it's only 3 days away, woohoo My is coming home from St. Louis tomorrow night so hopefully we'll get a chance to hang out together. We might go karaoking tomorrow night even though I still have to work Wednesday.
I've been karaoking at least twice a week since school started back up. I go on Tuesdays for a shorter time and Fridays for a longer time.
Been watching lots of football, particularly the Nebraska Cornhuskers who are having a reasonably good season with three games left to play.
Been having some fun on the weekends especially. Went to a get together this past Saturday and the Saturday before I went to Arsenic and Old Lace put on by a high school drama department. It was very well done.
