SPACE

In life, we create problems in relationship and interaction when we do not allow our loved ones the space that they need for their own flights of fancy, activity and choices. That is my reason for choice of this tit le SPACE for my blogs.

Best wishes to all.

Now on a lighter note :-

CONFUCIUS DID NOT SAY...

Man who wants pretty nurse, must be patient.

Squirrel who runs up woman's leg will not find nuts.

Man who leaps off cliff jumps to conclusion.

Man who runs in front of car gets tired, man who runs behind car gets exhausted.

War does not determine who is right, it determines who is left.

It takes many nails to build a crib but only one screw to fill it.

Man who live in glass house should change clothes in basement.

Finally CONFUCIUS DID SAY. . ...

"A lion will not cheat on his wife, but a Tiger Wood!"

Get your spectacles and your favourite drink, please, and sit down to read this.

Doing whatever we have done, we will continue to get what we have already got. So, to live wisely and happily, question the way of doing. Today, fast food has become a convenience. There is no time to think about its harmful effects. So, too, quality of life is compromised in the race to earn a quick buck.

A majority of arms dealing business is viewed as a source of making money. Some nations go to the extent of creating conflict in order to this business. To exploit the rich deposit of diamonds in economically weak countries, some unscrupulous businessmen create disorder among poor local tribes. Their infighting facilitates smuggling of diamonds. All for quick money. This is depicted in the movie ‘Blood Diamond’.

I state this practically first hand

Not surprisingly, one is caught up in the activity without experiencing fulfillment. Hence, learn to question your actions. Pause, re-look and don’t be blindly led by others.

A French entomologist conducted a breathtaking experiment using processionary caterpillars that travel in a long line with the same pace and rhythm, giving no attention to the final destination. They follow their leader. The entomologist took a giant flower pot and placed a large amount of food at its centre. Then, he placed the caterpillars onto the rim of the flowerpot. After some time, he could not find out who was the leader as the creatures were moving in circles one behind the other. Even after seven days and nights, they were moving on the rim and did not break the pattern to eat the food in the centre of the pot. In the end, they died of starvation and exhaustion. Their source of life was visible yet invisible. They could not alter their habitual and instinctive processionary instinct. This is true of us as well. We get caught in patterns and end up unfulfilled.

Therefore, question every action. Also question, who is the doer? Is it the self? If we see the whole process of the self and how it unfolds itself in action, then we will see, it is more harmful than useful. The self wants to be better than the other and in the process becomes bitter. This creates divisions and any division leads to conflict. Nations have divided themselves, and in fear try to protect themselves; they hoard arms to destroy each other. The urge to be secure creates more insecurity and chaos.

So much is said of self and self realisation. The self, if we go a little deeper, we understand that it is nothing but our thought. When there is no thought, there is no self as in state of deep sleep. So self hangs on thought. Thought is an expression of memory. Hence, for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease, when memory is gone, they loose sense of self. The thought is conditioned by conclusions, dogmas, opinion, likes and dislikes. Thought is, therefore, not free, for it is bound by its conclusions and dogmas and hence the self is not free. This bound self creates disorder and chaos. If one sees this totally and non-verbally, then intelligence and understanding emerges and that should end the egoistic self.

We look at Creation. It exists without the functioning of self. Therefore, there is innate and intrinsic intelligence in Creation. Ego and pride in self are different. Can one break this psychological groove surrounding the many of us called Ego ? Overcoming falseness in Ego promotes understanding and harmony, therefore, tranquility.

Sharing a forward with all of you which some of you may have read earlier, My friends :

In ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of Dot.

REAL GOOGLE STORY : A Masterpiece..!!!

And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she was often called Amazon Dot Com.

And she said unto Abraham, her husband: "Why dost thou travel so far from town to town with thy goods when thou canst trade without ever leaving thy tent?"

And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said: "How, dear?"

And Dot replied: "I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale, and they will reply telling you who hath the best price.

And the sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)."

Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. And the drums rang out and were an immediate success.
Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever having to move from his tent.

To prevent neighbouring countries from overhearing what the drums were saying, Dot devised a system that only she and the drummers knew.

It was called Must Send Drum Over Sound (MSDOS), and she also developed a language to transmit ideas and pictures - Hebrew To The People (HTTP)

But this success did arouse envy. A man named Maccabeus did secrete himself inside Abraham's drum and began to siphon off some of Abraham's business. But he was soon discovered, arrested and prosecuted - for insider trading.

And the young men did take to Dot Com's trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung.

They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Sybarites, or NERDS.

And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums that no one noticed that the real riches were going to that enterprising drum dealer, Brother William of Gates, who bought off every drum maker in the land.

And indeed did insist on drums to be made that would work only with Brother Gates' drumheads and drumsticks.

And Dot did say: "Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others."

And Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel , or eBay as it came to be known. He said: "We need a name that reflects what we are."

And Dot replied: "Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators."
"YAHOO," said Abraham.

And, because it was Dot's idea, they named it YAHOO Dot Com.

Abraham's cousin, Joshua, being the young Gregarious Energetic Educated (GEEK) that he was, soon started using Dot's drums to locate things around the countryside. It soon became known as God's Own Official Guide to Locating Everything (GOOGLE)

And that is how it all began.....

DANCE OF PEACE

I had tried to understand peace and humanity in Islam but the teachings and actions of most of the Islamic clergy only went on to strengthen a belief that the search may be futile till I read Maulana Wahiduddin, a Sufi practitioner and preacher, indeed a highly learned man.

Based on his writings plus some more search elsewhere I have ventured to post this blog.

Please read on and see if it interests you :

Peace is a transcendent condition. It is not a product of our thinking or our talking, but rather it is an essential quality of the Divine, much like the quality of Love. Peace is not found by talking or thinking, it is found by direct experience.

In the Gathas (Speech, song, poem or prose), Inayat Khan says:

'But to what does the love of God lead? It leads to that peace and stillness which can be seen in the life of the tree, which bears fruit and flowers for others and expects no returns, not even thanks in return. It serves and cares for nothing else, not even for appreciation. That is the attribute of the godly.
Jesus said "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you". All of the great wisdom traditions teach the same basic idea, that we have the ability to transcend our own little petty chatter, and find a place of Unity which is beyond all differences."

In the wonderful prayer called Khatm, Hazrat Inayat Khan offers us the insight that we can "rise above the differences and distinctions that divide us". The differences and distinctions will never cease to exist; it is we who must change, and the nature of that change is to rise above the distinctions and differences. It is not a task for the rational, logical mind. This is beyond mind, beyond the beyond.

Therein lies the key to the door of peace. Going to that still, quiet, eternal place within is the only way to find peace. It must be experienced. It is not found by hunting for peace, it is found by going beyond the beyond. Jesus didn't say "Seek ye peace...", he urged us to "Seek ye first the kingdom of God", to go beyond the beyond and experience directly That Which is awaiting.

Here area couple of brief quotes from Murshid SAM's esoteric paper on Takua Taharat: Everyday Life:

Every thought, no matter how noble, takes one from purity and peace. Emptiness alone, or Fana, is a counterpoise very necessary in purification. And this ends finally in realization or self-fulfillment, which in Sufic terms is called Baka...

In times of world turmoil or even of disturbances in one’s family or social milieu, the best practice is to maintain calmness and peace of mind, and in Sufism this is done through the practice of the divine presence (Akhlak Allah)...

This is what is meant that the holy man is in the world but not of it. He partakes of all activities but does not add to samsara. He does not add his thoughts to subjects which are disturbing. Instead, he tries to develop and manifest an atmosphere of calmness and peace, a living calmness, a vibrant peace...

While sensitivity is not of itself evil, too much sensitivity throws one into the turmoil where samskaras are collected and thus stands in the way of peace of heart. One cannot maintain peacefulness and have concern; one must choose. No doubt there are times and conditions when this sensitivity and concern are valuable, but any concern, large or small, makes a mark and stands in the path of peaceful existence.

As Murshid (a committed one - a teacher or guide)Samuel Lewis wrote:

Forget yourself, get into the spirit of song, rise and fall on the waves of ecstasy, and express [your] pure being. Then you escape all differences, all divisions, all duality, all pain, all sorrow.

OUR DREAMS

This was what I read last night, found it interesting and thought of sharing it with all of you. Please read on.

There are dreams that our conscious minds never register. There are dreams that seem clear when we first wake up but are forgotten as the day goes on. And then there are dreams so strange and jumbled that they stick with us for days and even years at a time. These are the ones full of objects and odd occurrences that practically demand interpretation (or an appointment with a therapist). Dream dictionaries claim to unlock the meaning behind our sleep sagas. But, based on the sheer multitude of entries, it’s clear that everything we dream about is ripe for symbolism. And often, our dreams allude to emotions or situations we need to confront in our waking hours.

Babies

Babies in dreams are symbols of purity, rebirth, and vulnerability. Again, it’s important to recognize what’s happening with the baby to figure out how it relates to your life. A crying or abandoned baby could mean that you’re not paying enough attention to your own needs. Perhaps you feel especially needy and vulnerable right now, or you might have doubts about being able to take care of someone other than yourself.

Work

Who hasn’t had dreams about working? Dreams about your job suggest that certain work habits need fixing–either not being on-task enough or working too much. When worries about job performance leak into our subconscious, there’s a lack of balance somewhere, either in effectiveness or in leisure time.

Bugs

Creepy-crawlies are the manifestation of problems that we’re not facing. Bugs on your skin mean an unsettling change is taking place in your life. The more bugs you encounter in your dream, the greater your problems and unconscious anxieties.

Candles

If the candle is aflame, that might mean good luck’s coming your way, or at least that there’s a reason to be hopeful. If it’s not lit, the candle could represent a lack of initiative or not living up to one’s promise. A candle that’s blown out has to do with leaving something behind, which could be good or bad.

Death

This makes for a sad dream, but death isn’t as ominous a theme as you’d think–it’s more about change on the horizon. If someone you know dies in a dream you have, think about your connection to that person. Is there an aspect of your relationship that needs changing? Or is there something about the person’s life that you’d like to see manifesting itself in your own? Death-related dreams might also be about incoming change or the dreamer’s need to change.

Mirrors

Mirrors in dreams reflect our inner qualities–both how others perceive us and how we see ourselves. If the mirror is foggy or clouded, however, that means we’re not seeing things accurately and need to figure out why. Shattering a mirror is allegedly bad luck in real life, but in the dream world, it represents breaking away from the inner self.

People

Would you guess the people we encounter in dreams are variations on ourselves? Pay close attention to these figures, because they represent personality traits we don’t acknowledge, either because they’re hidden or because they’re negative. When the person’s a stranger, it usually means the former; when he or she is familiar, it tends to signify the latter, although it could also mean that you should take a closer look at the ways in which you interact with that person in real life, and perhaps change your behavior toward him or her.

Hair

Hair in our sleep life has multiple meanings, including sensuality, self-image, and strength. If you’re cutting your hair, that symbolizes taking power over your life and letting go of unnecessary burdens. Brushing or fixing your hair alludes to heightened self-consciousness. Hair falling out has to do with fear of getting old and/or physical weakness.

Tears

If you’re crying in a dream, you’re likely grappling with a pent-up emotion that you’re not letting go of in real life, and it’s a way for your subconscious to provide you with the emotional outlet you deny yourself otherwise. If someone else is crying in your dream, it could be a message to you to be mindful of the thoughts and feelings of those around you.

Roads

Traveling down a road during a dream is like traveling down the path to your goals in life. Sometimes it’s windy or full of potholes, which means you have hardships to overcome. If it’s smooth, you’re making good choices and feel confident about your future success. And if the road ahead looks dark and looming, it might indicate that you’re making choices along the way without all the information you need, which could produce difficult outcomes.

Water

Whether it’s a rushing river or a calm ocean, water represents our emotional state. Calm, clear water means that we’re generally content and peaceful at the moment. Murky, rough water suggests we’re feeling overwhelmed by negative thoughts and not making choices that support our emotional well-being.

YAHOO PROMOTED MENS' DIET ESSENTIALS

Healthy eating can sometimes be different depending on your gender. Here’s a list of foods that men must include in their diet.

Here’s what gentlemen should be eating according to an article I read in Yahoo.

While there are some foods that we must all eat, men and women have different dietary requirements — met by different foods.

Blueberries

Blueberries have been linked to reduced risk of prostate cancer, owing to high levels of proanthocyanidins (a subtype of flavonoids). The benefits of blueberries does not end there, research also suggests that this fruit can reduce risk of heart disease, age-related memory loss and type-2 diabetes — all of which – typically effect more men than women.
Brazil nuts

Snacking on nuts in general is good for the heart and skin. Brazil nuts, however, are particularly good for men as they have a high selenium content, which is known to enhance sperm health and mortality.

Selenium also helps reduce LDL or bad cholesterol and acts as mood enhancer.

Cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprout

Cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprout are some important veggies that every man must include in his diet. These veggies are known to contain cancer-fighting chemicals, which are known to cut risk of prostate and colorectal cancer in men.

So add them in plenty in your daily diet.

Tomatoes

This popular fruit has many benefits for men. Lycopene (a phytochemical) is known to lower cholesterol, cut risk of colorectal cancer and heart disease.

Studies show that men who regularly eat food rich in lycopene have lesser chances of developing prostate cancer.

Eggs

If you’re prone to hair loss, then look no further. Eggs, an excellent source of protein and biotin (vitamin B7) boosts hair growth. Additionally, egg yolks are a good source of iron, which research suggests helps alleviate hair loss caused by anaemia.

Pomegranate

Packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, and studies show that eating pomegranate regularly can help lower cholesterol, a problem common to many men.

Many studies also suggest that drinking a glass of pomegranate juice daily ca slow down the progress of prostate cancer.

Garlic

Garlic’s heart health boosting properties are well known, it helps lower cholesterol, reducing chances of blockage. Further, research findings published in the Journal of National Cancer Institute suggests that regularly eating garlic and onions cuts risk of prostate cancer. So include them in your diet today.

Salmon

Salomon, a sea fish is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which can help treat the cause of many common health ailments in men. It not only helps reduce LDL or bad cholesterol, it also helps alleviate depression and cuts risk of prostate and colorectal cancer.

Whole grains

Whole grains pack in a host of vitamins, minerals and fibre – good for both men and women. However, it’s the B vitamins that particularly benefit men.

Vitamin B9 (folate) helps keep sperm healthy, vitamin B7 (biotin) helps reduce hair loss. Silica, also found in whole grains aids healthy hair growth.

OPTIMISTS' CREED

Good to be amongst friends again; I had gone off for a trek, followed by my battalion's golden jubilee and another regimental meeting of the veterans.

It is axiomatic that all my friends here were missed. In the mean time, a very dear friend was seriously sick and it is great to know that recovery though not complete, is almost there at 90%.

I am sure all of you will join me in a prayer for her complete recovery soonest.

My resolution for all of us who accept it is the Optimist's Creed by Christian D Larson which I reproduce below :-

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

A big hug/bear hug as applicable to all my friends.

WOUND OR HEAL - OUR THOUGHTS

This is an adaptation from a Deepak Chopra book.

“My every thought has the power either to wound or to heal.”

This affirmation is about spiritual energy. Make this your lesson today: when you hold a thought about someone, you are either drawing them near or pushing them away.

The power that draws people near is love. When you hold anyone in loving awareness, our natural instinct is to embrace, and whoever is embraced is being released from separation.

Fear pushes people away. Anyone you push away is being told to go back into separation. Your thoughts may seem like small things, yet each person occupies a fragile space emotionally and is easily wounded. Today welcome everyone into the light that you can. This is vital to your healing and theirs.

“I will use my thoughts wisely and respect their power.”

This affirmation is about taking responsibility. After saying this affirmation, end by sitting still and consciously bringing everyone you know into your awareness.

See them coming together in a town square. Imagine that you are the ruler of this gathering, with the power to hurt or benefit anyone you wish. Now look over all the faces gazing up at you and say, “I will use my power wisely.” In this promise you acknowledge your role in everyone’s healing. You offer your thoughts to the service of spirit.

“I am not my thoughts; my thoughts are recycled information.”

This affirmation is about identification. As you say it, experience your thoughts. Each of these belongs to you, but they are not who you are. You are the one who observes them.

You are the experiencer behind the experience. As matter and energy are recycled through you, everything is in flux except the true self, which organizes life like the choreographer of a dance, guiding every step without walking onstage herself.

- Deepak Chopra
