A couple of weeks ago I announced that I'd gone to a wonderful art festival and made a purchase of two limited edition prints with which to favor my walls.
Well, they arrived today. One was in perfect condition. The other came with the UV glass shattered!
I'm not quite sure how to handle it except to go to the post office with the merchandise ............. I suspect it will be several weeks before it's resolved. Makes me sick!!

I didn't know quite where else to tell you that I visited Madison, Wisconsin, this weekend - home of the origin of The Onion by two enterprising young college students - as you well know.
I just wanted to tell you that my "closest thing" and I got our hands on a physical copy and sat in our motel room laughing our fool heads off. It was an absolute delight!! I just had to tell YOU!

when someone as well-respected as Stillwater is "disheartened" by the treatment he's endured here at the hands of ONE and feels a need to succumb to the pressures brought to bear to restore.
It sickens me to my soul .... and I feel a need to say so!!

Cell phones ........... child abuse?

I recently heard someone on PBS state: "Over-indulgence is the most insidious form of child abuse." We've indulged our kids/grand kids with every electronic device imaginable in recent times. A close friend of mine gave his 11-yr-old daughter a lap-top in payment for "good grades" because, "She earned it."
Kids frequently carry I-pods and a multitude of other devices, many of which I have no knowledge of.
And, cell phones - in the interest of "safety" .... always knowing where the little darling is. (How did WE, the older generation, ever survive without them??? Did no one care where we were at every hour of every day? There were rapes; there were kid-nappings .... even in the "olden days".)
And now, ONCE AGAIN, it comes to the forefront of the news that the effect of radiation on the brain produced by cell phones is REAL. This is old news! We've been warned of it before! Never-the-less, we've provided our children with these devices, either out of ignorance or without the greater concern.
Through the exposure of radiation by way of ALL electronic devices, including computers where kids sit for literally HOURS a day playing games, or at school doing assignments, we have placed them in grave danger .... not to mention ourselves!
In our ignorance, we are dupes for marketing ... no matter what the cost.
Could this not be construed as a form of child abuse??

I attended a wonderful art festival this weekend at Wausau, Wisconsin - just an hour's drive from me - that featured some of the most noted artists around the country appearing by invitation only. It was simply FANTASTIC!!
One of the artists in particular stood tall in my personal, aesthetic measure. His name is Marv Poulson and he reigns from Utah. His digital photo images are EXQUISITE!!
I was fortunate enough to have a lengthy conversation with Marv about his photography. In purchasing two of his limited editions from his "ancient trees" collection - one called "The Beginning" and the other, "The Joshua Tree" - he explained in detail the conditions under which he waited in the darkness "for the perfect moment" to capture these images - the perfectly clear sky, the perfect position of the sun on the horizon that cast a half halo around the ancient tree, the filtered, atmospheric light of the rising sun emanating upward and creating color ranging from a soft yellow to pink, to blue, to a deep purple. It's magnificent!
Please, please visit his website under ImageDancer where you can see the pieces I purchased and where "The Beginning" is marked his prized and favorite. He also displays many wonderful, natural, geological formations in the western U.S. that to me appear "out of this world." They are simply gorgeous.
Trees, being the theme for this week's foto friday, I wanted to share. I wish I could claim them as my own, but alas, I am way, way, way out-classed! lol
