Our Veterans......... Past, Present and Future Nov 11, 2009 7:57 pm
Mood: grateful, 37 Views
Thank you to all our veterans and their families and those serving now.
Where would we be without them? I'd rather not think about that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I knew a man called him Sandy Kane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free
I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cries
As he said these words to me
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
Now Sandy Kane is no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo through out our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man
Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died America can't you see
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall, yes recall
Some gave all
Some gave all
HAPPY 234th BIRTHDAY United States Marine Corps...
Semper Fi !
The Marines' Hymn
From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli,
We fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine.
Our Flag's unfurled to every breeze from dawn to setting sun.
We have fought in every clime and place, where we could take a gun.
In the snow of far off northern lands and in sunny tropic scenes, You will find us always on the job, the United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps, which we are proud to serve.
In many a strife we've fought for life and never lost our nerve.
If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes,
they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines.
A Marine's daughter,
A dollar can buy you a heap of trouble ........ Sep 2, 2009 9:18 pm
Mood: hopeful, 317 Views
You may know about this,
You may not care,
Either way,
I wanted to share..........................!
I have a credit card that has not been used for months. (true!)
By chance I went on line just to check it out. To my surprise there was a pending charge for $1.00 to a place I never patronize dated yesterday. (9/1)
I knew immediately there could be a heap of trouble for that dollar. I have dealt with this occurrence at work and the shock of those realizing their accounts have been compromised, stolen ....FRAUD! My realization....priceless.
The practice of these personal stimulus package seekers (say that 3 times fast!) is to charge a dollar, and if it goes through.....the sky is the limit, for real. They figure who will notice a dollar? Duh, what would one charge for a dollar? Long story short, I canceled my card, a new one is on the way. The credit bureaus have placed a fraud alert on my hard earned financial accounts. (Sounds grander than it is...LOL ) All within 10 minutes time. Crisis averted. Please, please be!
Lesson: Keep you eye on the prize, whether you have a little or a lot. We all work hard and I would be quite @#**@## to know someone was out there enjoying my hard earned $ !
Just another day in the cyber world......
To the cyber stealers...... Do you know what Karma is?
When the new card arrives........Dinner anyone?
FIRST DATE FUN ! Aug 29, 2009 7:06 am
What a pair!
FERNDALE, Mich. (Aug. 2 -- Police say a first date went from bad to worse when a Detroit man skipped out on the restaurant bill, then stole his date's car.
T Dejuan McCoy, 23, was ordered Thursday to stand trial in Oakland County Circuit Court on a charge of unlawfully driving away the woman's car, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Police say McCoy had dinner with a 27-year-old woman April 24 at Buffalo Wild Wings in Ferndale, Mich.
The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak reported the woman told police McCoy said he left his wallet in her car and asked for her keys. He then sped away in the 2000 Chevrolet Impala.
Police identified McCoy using a photo he earlier sent to the woman's cell phone, as well as his phone number.
Moral: You only get one chance to make a first impression!
Have a great day everyone.
The 411 on Rules of Engagement......not that kind ! Aug 21, 2009 7:46 pm
Greetings fellow communicators & flirtatious types!
I noticed these tips on the Y site and thought they might be informative in this e-mail driven place, called SFF.
Apparently there are certain behaviors in flirting with texts, calls and e-mails that supposedly have hidden meaning. Not anymore!
The following tips may help you find the right words and nuances to send the right message to your on line crush or person of interest.
Opening up the conversation If you are the first to initiate an on line flirt, keep your message relatively short and simple, but always include an intriguing fact about yourself to elicit curiosity (and inspire a response). ?Example: Hello! I love the fact that you're a world traveler. Have you ever been to Timbuktu? (Even if you've never been, you can follow up with subsequent messages about wanting to visit.)
The "Open Loop/Closed Loop" email If you are not interested in pursuing a dialog with your flirtee, you can send the right message without being completely rude -- this is the art of the "open- and closed-loop email." The open-looped email always ends with a question; the closed-looped email does not. The open-looped email indicates you are interested while the closed-looped hopefully lets the person know to stop emailing you.
Open-looped: It sounds like you are quite a mountain biker -- where do you like to ride? What kind of bike do you have?
Closed-looped: That's cool that you like to bike. Take it easy.
Timing is everything
Similar to the offline world, timing is everything, but the rules on email are different. You do not need to wait three days to return an email, but you do need to wait more than three minutes. It's a smart idea to vary your response time, and be aware of how long he/she is taking to respond to you. Also, responding to emails at 10 p.m. on a Saturday night may not send the right message (and people, especially women, do notice these things).
Spelling and grammar
People have very different standards for spelling and grammar in the email world. In the beginning, try to err on the grammatically correct side of things (this way they know you are capable of writing a complete sentence). It never hurts to run a spell-check or take time to proofread. After you have established a rapport, you can take more liberty using lower case, slang terms and more casual communication.
Search for someone to flirt with now.
Make a new friend or just send a nice comment on something you enjoyed reading in a profile, etc. It isn't rocket science!
I have experienced these quick contacts and some of the senders have become friends. Likewise, I have initiated same with good result.
On that note just one thing that I have wanted to say for awhile: Hey guys, if you repeatedly view a lady and haven't done anything more, these tips might be just what you need.
More so called rules? I'll leave that for another post!
So y'all, have you been to Timbuktu?
Nice smile. Take care.
How did you get here?
Great Blog, are you writing another? HA HA
Nuts & Bolts and Tools, Oh My ! Jul 12, 2009 3:15 pm
Mood: Pleased!, 441 Views
I had been looking at the giant box which contained the super deluxe rug shampooer I recently purchased. I have walked by it for about two weeks. Okay, today is the day I will put it together.
I did put a vacuum cleaner together ages ago, so how difficult could this be? Yeah, right.
I fixed my crashed computer and other little things requiring a tightened screw here and there. I do have a tool box, though a little dusty. Craftsman, of course.
I took ALL the parts and pages of instructions out of the box. At that point I was tempted to put every thing back into the box and get a friend to "help" me. I even considered taking it back to the store for help. I know, kind of a sissy idea! So not me!
Moving forward, I needed a Phillips head screwdriver which I had. Okay, this is a good thing. (Who was Phillip anyway?)
After many attempts, I got the main pieces together with a snap!
Then in shock, I had no hoses as referred to in the directions. I looked in the box---empty. Now what? A few choice words came to mind......but were not spoken....does that count? Then,with a revelation and a smile...my model did not have hoses! Priceless.
I did know a nut from a bolt, but was undecided how the nut should go into place with the bolt on the machine.I can say all is holding together so I was lucky....or correct! Lastly, it was a little scary as I tried to move sections that were to snap apart without forcing them or cracking them. Yikes. All is well, nothing leaks and it is holding together...so far.
Do I wish there had been a "handy man" nearby? You bet I do, but the satisfaction I felt having done it myself was worth the angst.
Is it fair that men are usually the ones that do these things for us gals...no, but it is very nice and appreciated. Is this like a woman helping a man cook or wrap a present? Hmmmm.
I am happy to report no fingernails were broken in this endeavor.
Now, where is that electric table saw.....I have some French bread that needs slicing.......... Love those power tools!
Do MEN REALLY MARRY FOR MONEY ? Jul 3, 2009 6:39 pm
Mood: Curious?????, 472 Views
FYI: Not all of you!
Tell it Trace..... as in Adkins of country music fame.
Marry For Money
She was pretty
She was smart
she was witty
Yeah she had charm
Cupid shot me
that's what got me down the aisle
But that match made in heaven
Went straight to hell
Split up our possessions
Put the house up for sale
And I learned a lesson I won't be for getting
The next time around
I'm gonna marry for Money
I'll be so damn rich it ain't funny
I'm gonna have me a trust fund, yacht club, hot tub piece of the pie
Find me a sweet sugar mama
With a whole lot of zeros and commas
Don't really care if she loves me
She can even be ugly
I'm gonna marry for Money
I won't have to love her family
I won't have to like her friends
and if it works out like I planned it,
I won't ever have to work again
Repeat Chorus
Y'all I'm gonna fly to Hawaii
On a Leer Jet the old lady buys me
I'll call her sweet heart & honey if she's a hundred and twenty
I'm gonna marry for Money...
I dont care if she loves me
She can be really ugly
I'm gonna marry for Money
Oh, cha-ching mucho deniro
Makes you wonder a little , eh ladies?
Do GIRLS LIE TOO ? Jul 3, 2009 6:29 pm
Mood: Humorous, 450 Views
DISCLAIMER: There are exceptions of course!
Singer Terri Clark tells it quite well:
GIRLS LIE TOO
So she can’t go out tonight again
Her sister’s sick, she’s gotta baby-sit
Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good excuse
Now you didn’t hear any of this from me
But things aren’t always what they seem
Brace yourself, this may come as a shock to you
Girls lie, too
We don’t care how much money you make
What you drive or what you weigh
Size don’t matter anyway
Girls lie, too
Don’t think you’re the only ones
Who bend it, break it, stretch it some
We learn from you
Girls lie, too
We can’t wait to hear about your round of golf
We love to see deer heads hanging on the wall
And we like Hooter’s for their hotwings too
Other guys never cross our minds
We don’t wonder what it might be like
How could it be any better than it is with you
(Repeat Chorus)
Yeah, girls lie, too
We always forgive and forget
The cards and flowers you never sent
Will never be brought up again
Girls lie, too
Old gray sweatpants turn us on
We like your friends and we love your mom
And that's the truth
Girls lie, too
Yeah that’s the truth
Girls lie, too
[No, we don’t care how much hair you have
Yeah, that looks good
Comb it over like that
Any of this sound familiar guys?
